Hey! 2nd element for the Periodic table of elements series is Copper with a chemical symbol "Cu". I think this is one of the most common element that we already heard about it in different materials that we use. Here's more info and interesting facts that you may or may not know about.

let's start with the basic

Atomic Number: 29

Atomic Mass: 63. 546 g/mol

Electronegativity based on Pauling: 1.9

Density: 8.96 g/cm³

Copper is a beautiful and useful metallic element that can be found in both pure form and chemical compounds throughout your home. Its name comes from the Latin word cuprum. The name derives from the Greek island of Cyprus, which was famous for its copper mining. Copper is a nutrient that is required by the body. It helps the body create red blood cells when combined with iron. It aids in the maintenance of healthy bones, blood vessels, nerves, and immunological function, as well as iron absorption. It is widely used in electronics and wiring because it is ductile and malleable, and it conducts heat and electricity well. When copper is exposed to water and air, it undergoes an oxidation reaction, in which it loses electrons. The copper oxide that results is a dull green color.

More Facts about Copper

  1. Copper has the only reddish-metallic hue of all the elements. Gold, a yellowish metal, is the only other non-silver metal on the periodic table. Red gold and rose gold are created by mixing copper with gold.

  2. Along with gold and meteoritic iron, copper was the first metal to be worked by humans. This is because these metals are among the few that can be found in their natural state, which means they are relatively pure metals. Copper has been used for more than 10,000 years. Otzi the Iceman (3300 BCE) was discovered with an axe with a virtually pure copper head. The poison arsenic was found in significant concentrations in the iceman's hair, possibly indicating that he was exposed to the element during copper smelting.

  3. Copper easily paperwork alloys with different metals. Two of the best-acknowledged alloys are brass (copper and zinc) and bronze (copper and tin), even though loads of alloys exist.

  4. Copper easily paperwork alloys with different metals. Two of the best-acknowledged alloys are brass (copper and zinc) and bronze (copper and tin), even though loads of alloys exist. It is used in wiring (60 percent of all copper used), plumbing, electronics, building construction, cookware, coins, and a host of other products.

  5. Nearly eighty percentage of the copper that has been mined so far remains in use. Copper is a one hundred percentage recyclable metallic. It's an considerable metallic in Earth's crust, gift at concentrations of fifty components according to million. Its abundance is 2.five x 10-four mg/L in sea water. The Earth's copper became shaped in exploding white dwarfs and huge stars, earlier than the sun device shaped.

There are a lot of wonderful and useful elements that exists and Copper is one of those with tons of uses. Hope you did enjoy this article mweheh
