ETH issuance has fallen 98 percent since the Merge. Is Ethereum POS a threat to Bitcoin dominance? Cardano Founder Charles Hoskinson tweeted that Ethereum would have completed Merge faster by using the Snow White upgrade. The SEC claims all ETH transactions are in the U.S. And Ethereum Cofounder Vitaik Buterin says he’d like to see Dogecoin and Zcash follow Ethereum to POSThe discussion on whether Ethereum poses a threat to bitcoin’s dominance is an interesting one. I particularly like the perspective that POS introduces politics into the blockchain ecosystem whereas bitcoin must follow the laws of physics.

Erik Voorhees, founder of ShapeShift, wrote a letter to Ross Ulbricht, founder of Silk Road, who is still sitting in jail for writing code and facilitating freedom. I certainly think Ross Ulbricht got too stiff a penalty, and I disagree with many of our drug laws. I particularly disagree with putting people in jail for smoking marijuana or being in possession of it. But Ulbricht certainly did break some laws in a technical sense and I do believe that laws should be upheld. Even unjust laws. But they should be upheld fairly and equitably. Unfortunately, they aren’t always upheld equitably. Still, let’s not forget that Ulbricht had a chance to accept a plea bargain and chose not to. While certain aspects of our legal system need an overhaul, we can’t forget that living in modern society requires a certain amount of wisdom. We do no justice to reality by making heroes out of those who don’t exercise it.
