Agony of a delicate creature
Thursday,11 August,2022.
Couple of months ago an epidemic of cattles befall upon us which is called lumpy skin disease and it has caused sufferings to animals worth lacs of rupees. It's abbreviated as LSD. It's a viral infection disease which is transmitted by blood feeding insects such as certain species of flies and mosquitoes. It's a very fatalic disease in which causes lumpy and nodules on skin of cattles.
She was already suffering from 3rd eyelid prolapse which as a result affected her adversely. Doctors say it's only cure is the surgery of tear gland but we cannot do it as long as she is pregnant. At this moment we have no Choice left except to wait. Boric acid is affective but not necessarily.as it cannot permanently remove that infected tear gland.
Before this disease came into our area we have had already heard about its occurrence in other places so we started taking preventive measures such as hygienic conditions and proper food supply to cattles so they don't catch this disease but it didn't matter when the endemic turned upon us.
On the first day of this disease attack on our cow she only had three to five noudles on her skin but the next day morning there were multiple noudles on her whole body. We immediately called doctor and he gave her two injections and tablets to control the lumpy but it didn't work that much. Rather it felt like those injections reacted negatively with her body and inflicted more side effects than the cure. However, there's no particular medicine for it's control, just the antibiotics which may work to enhance cattles immune system so they can fight against the repulsive bacteria inside.
Vaccine is also effective as a preventive measure but only until your cattles are uninfected from lumpy skin because vaccines don't work afterwards. But the other appropriate medicines improve the appetite of animals which helps to maintain a healthy metabolism and your cattles can fight against this disease with that. So it's helpful to do medication. Although some ppl say there's no need at all to do medication. I don't fully support this idea but it js somethat true though.
In the prior days of infection we used PPS ,Saloon M and few other prescribed injections from the doctor. We also gave Brufin syrup and oanadlo to Normal the body temperature and fever. It's been helpful to use them. We did everything we could do for the survival of our cow. We tried nostrums for help and it has been effective lil bit.
When she got sick she didn't sit for 15 days then on the 16 day she sat for a while then stood up again cause her whole body pained. But a day later we ourselves tried to sit her down. We made her sat for at least 4 hours she got good rest and sleep then we had to stand her up because it was risky to make her sit for too long as she was not recovered yet
Once the noudles on body burst cattles start proceeding towards recovery so did our cow. Now she has been quite recovered than before as it may seen. Though it takes couple of months to be fully recovered according to experts. But hopefully she would start feeling like normal very soon
After our cow got somethat recovered another young cow which was the daughter of our first cow got this disease too but she didn't get too much sick since we didn't do enough medication and she git recovered naturally within a week. So the point is that don't extra medicate your cattles otherwise the side effects would be unexpected and may lead to death no wonder.
So sorry, sad to read about your cow, sometimes, the animals take a place like our family, we started feeling love for them. May your animals get well soon, and hope you will get rid of this fatal disease soon. Aameen.
It looks your cow is in pain, i can see in the picture.
