I am not particularly fond of modern American comedy but with Robert De Niro as the protagonist, I could not give the film a chance and so I started watching. The film from the beginning really took me because it immediately underlines a recurring theme today: the influence of devices such as computers, smartphones and the internet in the world of work but still in interpersonal relationships.
The plot tells of the great success of a fashion company that deals with sponsoring and selling clothing and accessories exclusively through e-commerce. The owner of the company, Jules Ostin, is a mother and wife but her work distances her more and more from the family, and thanks to the patient figure of the new senior intern, Ben Whittaker, she begins to realize what is happening around her and directs her to make the right decisions.
The film is a denunciation of the often disproportionate use of technology in an increasingly fast society that leaves you no moments to meditate on who we are and what we want. The figure of the mature Ben is the * vintage * element that with his calm and patient way of doing restores balance and harmony a little in all the employees of the company, that is, it is the efficiency of doing of yesteryear which helps modern society manage itself better. You can't always just run otherwise sooner or later we will miss your breath but you need to slow down and stop when necessary to rest a few moments and start running even faster than before.
The film is very pleasant in its vision because the scenes are told in a simple and linear way and even the slightly more dramatic scenes are always broken up by the sympathy of Robert De Niro, an actor who manages to express different emotions with few changes in the expressions of the her face. I also really liked the actress Anne Hathaway in the film always so sunny and certainly a woman of remarkable and elegant beauty who identifies herself very well in the role of the manager who faces her working life with great commitment and energy and who recognizes her own limits and errors.
It is certainly a film that young people should see as it tends to teach that in life there is not only the internet and social media, but interpersonal relationships must be taken care of face to face and not through apathetic electronic devices.
The location where much of the film takes place is a former factory that dealt with telephone directory printing, as well as Ben's former workplace. From the series "sometimes they come back", here too we have a marked point of reference to symbolize that the solid pillars of the past must not be demolished but can be used to build new and solid realities.

Non sono particolarmente amante della commedia americana moderna ma essendoci Robert De Niro come protagonista, non potevo non dare una chance al film e così ho iniziato la visione. Il film sin dall'inizio mi ha davvero preso perchè da subito sottolinea un tema ricorrente ai giorni nostri: l'influenza dei dispositivi come computer, smartphone ed internet nel mondo del lavoro ma ancora nei rapporti interpersonali.
La trama narra del grande successo di un'azienda di moda che si occupa di sponsorizzare e vendere abbigliamenti ed accessori esclusivamente tramite l'e-commerce. La titolare dell'azienda, Jules Ostin, è mamma e moglie ma il suo lavoro la allontana sempre di più dalla famiglia, e grazie alla paziente figura del nuovo stagista senior, Ben Whittaker, inizia a realizzare quanto le stia succedendo attorno e la indirizza a prendere le giuste decisioni.
Il film è una denuncia all'uso spesso spropositato della tecnologia in una società sempre più veloce e che non ti lascia momenti per meditare a ciò che siamo e ciò che vogliamo. La figura del maturo Ben è l'elemento *vintage* che con la sua calma ed il suo paziente modo di fare ristabilisce equilibrio e armonia un pò in tutti i dipendenti dell'azienda, ossia è l'efficienza di un fare d'altri tempi che aiuta la società moderna gestirsi meglio. Non si può sempre e solo correre altrimenti prima o poi ci mancherebbe il fiato ma è necessario rallentare e fermarsi quando necessario per per riposarsi qualche istante ed iniziare a correre anche più veloci di prima.
Il film risulta molto piacevole nella sua visione perchè le scene sono raccontate in modo semplice e lineare ed anche le scene un pò più drammatiche sono sempre smezzate dalla simpatia di Robert De Niro, un attore che riesce ad esprimere emozioni diverse con pochi cambiamenti nelle espressioni del suo viso. Mi è piaciuto molto anche l'attrice Anne Hathaway nel film sempre così solare e sicuramente donna di notevole ed elegante bellezza che si immedesima davvero molto bene nel ruolo della manager che affronta con grande impegno ed energia la sua vita lavorativa e che riconosce però i propri limiti ed errori.
E' sicuramente un film che dovrebbero vedere i ragazzi in quanto tende ad insegnare che nella vita non esiste solo internet ed i social, ma i rapporti interpersonali devono essere curati faccia a faccia e non tramite dispositivi elettronici apatici.
La location in cui si sviluppa gran parte del film è un ex fabbrica che si occupava di stampe di elenchi telefonici, nonchè ex sede lavorativa di Ben. Della serie "a volte ritornano", anche qui abbiamo un marcato punto di riferimento a simboleggiare che i pilastri solidi del passato non devono essere abbattuti ma possono essere utilizzati per costruire nuove e solide realtà.
