The incipit is a reversal played entirely on camera movements and actor's interpretation, just a few minutes from the opening credits. Unpredictable and intriguing. Carey Mulligan is amazing.

La vita che riparte per tutti, tranne che per chi non si rassegna, per la sua migliore amica. Perché dimenticare o ridimensionare vale a dire ucciderla ancora, ancora e ancora.
La vendetta è un piano arguto di giustizia privata, perpetrata per anni e con un’eco più ampia del previsto. Si parte dal generale per arrivare al particolare. Da tutta una comunità più larga, fino al vero responsabile. Perché ladro non è solo chi ruba ma anche chi regge il sacco. Tutti ugualmente responsabili, tutti carnefici.
E se la preda diventa predatore?
Qualcuno inizia a pagare, con la stessa moneta. L’avvocato del diavolo chiede perdono per aver difeso il diavolo. Per tutti è eterna dannazione, perché quello che fa più male è l’indifferenza davanti alla quale nessuna scusa può essere accetta, come nessun presunto colpevole atteggiamento della vittima autorizza il carnefice a manifestarsi in quanto tale. Non c’è sbronza, non c’è gonna troppo corta, non c’è comportamento troppo estroverso che tengano.
La violenza è violenza e prima o poi torna a bussare alla porta (della coscienza) sotto forma di sensi di colpa, di riverberi dal passato che ancora risuonano nel presente e hanno il volto di chi non si arrende, di chi non si rassegna, costi quel che costi. Di chi fa della giusta ricostruzione dei fatti e della storia, la missione di una vita, rinunciando alla propria, mettendo ciascuno di fronte alla domanda che non lascia scampo: “e se fosse successo a te?”
Promising Young Woman è un film arguto, amaro e cupo nonostante i toni pastello, diretto da una promising director al suo esordio sbalorditivo. Accurato, notevole. Un racconto per immagini che ha il peso di un’arringa schiacciante e inconfutabile. L’incipit è un capovolgimento giocato tutto su movimenti di macchina e interpretazione attoriale, a pochi minuti dai titoli di testa. Imprevedibile e intrigante. Carey Mulligan è stupefacente.
