Polkadot and interoperability between blockchains

Among the most interesting projects of 2020 and among the likely protagonists of 2021 there is certainly Polkadot (DOT), founded by Gavin Wood , co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum, and creator of the term Web 3.0 which identifies decentralization of the internet and all its contents, such as social networks. He collaborated in the development of Solidity, the language for writing smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain and decided to move away from the project led by Vitalik because Ethereum has limits in scalability and interoperability with other blockchains.

Tra i progetti più interessanti del 2020 e tra i probabili protagonisti del 2021 c'è sicuramente Polkadot (DOT), fondato da Gavin Wood, co-fondatore ed ex CTO di Ethereum, e ideatore del termine Web 3.0 che identifica la decentralizzazione di internet e di tutti i suoi contenuti, come ad esempio social network. Ha collaborato alla sviluppo di Solidity, il linguaggio per la scrittura degli smart contracts sulla blockchain di Ethereum ed ha deciso di allontanarsi dal progetto guidato da Vitalik perchè Ethereum presenta limiti nella scalabilità ed interoperabilità con le altri blockchain.

L'interoperabilità tra blockchain è il motivo per cui è nato Polkadot, una catena molto complessa ma anche molto ben strutturata, entrata in mainnet a Maggio 2020. Entriamo un pò più nel dettaglio per capirne la struttura.

Le parachains, oltre ad essere comunicanti con la relay chain, possono comunicare anche tra di loro, attraverso la stessa blockchain di Polkadot. La struttura è complessa ma il risultato è incredibile.

Ogni blockchain ha una sua vita autonoma, quindi un suo token ed una sua governance, ma può in qualsiasi momento comunicare con la relay chain, che a sua volta avrà un suo token ed una sua governance. In pratica non esisterebbero più barriere tra le blockchain: immaginiamo Bitcoin poter scambiare dati con la blockchain di Ethereum o Dogecoin oppure Hive. Non esisteranno più barriere e questo apporterebbe enormi vantaggi.
