Perfectly in line with 'The Great Dictator', 'He is Back', 'JoJo Rabbit', 'Mein Führer, The Really True Truth About Adolf Hitler' is a brilliant, satirical film that riddles one of the greatest tyrants exterminators of history. The great dictator is brought to his knees - as in the work of Maurizio Cattelan - after sixteen years of Reich, by a depressive state that makes him apathetic and devoid of that fatal nationalist enthusiasm that made him terrifying and famous. To help him prepare one of his illustrious and fervent speeches to the German nation, a well-known Jewish actor of the same name, Adolf Grünbaum, will be summoned from a labor and extermination camp.
The stinging irony is revealed in the absurd dynamics of the story: the warm-up exercises from yogic practice, the rediscovery of oneself through meditation and the recovery of old childhood wounds in bed conversations. The preparation of the 'king's speech' passes through the self-knowledge of the Führer and the recovery of his true, evil nature. Discovering, on the other hand, that he is the exact embodiment of everything that his own ideology condemns.
That the führer can be saved, in the last resort, by a Jewish actor, says a lot not only on the shrewd irony at the base of the film but also ignites a broader reflection on a man who was the expression of an ideology, of a thought and a way of being (dis) human that still today meander dangerously, under the guise of populist movements and demagogic strategies, falsely revolutionary.
The really true truth about Adolf Hitler is what we reject and that is that men die but certain ideas, alas, never die and, quoting Timur Vermes, he can thunder or perhaps he never went away. Achtung!

In perfetta linea con 'Il Grande Dittatore', 'Lui è tornato', 'JoJo Rabbit', 'Mein Führer, La veramente vera verità su Adolf Hitler' è un film brillante, di satira, che mette alla berlina uno dei più grandi tiranni sterminatori della storia. Il grande dittatore è messo in ginocchio - come nell'opera di Maurizio Cattelan - dopo sedici anni di Reich, da uno stato depressivo che lo rende apatico e privo di quel fatale entusiasmo nazionalista che lo ha reso terrificante e famoso. Ad aiutarlo a preparare uno dei suoi illustri e infervorati discorsi alla nazione tedesca, sarà chiamato da un campo di lavoro e sterminio, un noto attore ebreo suo omonimo, Adolf Grünbaum.
L'ironia pungente si palesa nelle dinamiche assurde della vicenda: gli esercizi di riscaldamento da pratica yogica, la riscoperta di se stesso attraverso la meditazione e il recupero delle vecchie ferite dell'infanzia nelle conversazioni da lettino. La preparazione del 'discorso del re' passa attraverso la conoscenza di sé del Führer e il recupero della sua vera natura, malvagia. Scoprendo, per contro, di essere l'incarnazione esatta di tutto ciò che la sua stessa ideologia condanna.
Che a salvare il führer, poi, possa essere, in ultima istanza, un attore ebreo, la dice lunga non solo sull'ironia sagace alla base del film ma accende una riflessione più ampia su un uomo che è stato espressione di un'ideologia, di un pensiero e di un modo di essere (dis)umani che ancora oggi serpeggiano pericolosamente, sotto le mentite spoglie di movimenti populisti e strategie demagogiche, fintamente rivoluzionarie.
La veramente vera verità su Adolf Hitler è quella che rifiutiamo e cioè che muoiono gli uomini ma certe idee, ahinoi, non muoiono mai e, citando Timur Vermes, lui può tonare o forse non è mai andato via. Achtung!
