In the form of a comedy, a film about the end of time and above all about the end of humanity. PLOT

American astronomy professor Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) and his student Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence) discover a comet that will inevitably hit the Earth within an estimated 6-month period. The two scientists try to warn the government, the media and ultimately the influencers so that they can inform the entire population of the imminent danger. After many attempts, their warning is finally taken into consideration and an expedition is organized to destroy the meteorite until it is discovered that it contains many precious metals and in the general indecision about how to act, the star hits the planet, destroying it.

On the edge of a tragedy so tragic that it sounds absurd and ridiculous, Don’t look up is an overview of how we are, in bad shape. On the low gazes on the feet, on the screens, on the small things, you consciously forget the bigger things that dominate us and over which we delude ourselves that we have control, lying to ourselves.

Because there are problems that cannot be solved by postponing them and are not reduced simply by deciding not to look at them, not to face them. Thinking we can manage them, it will be too late when we realize that they are already impacting and engulfing us. Maybe it's science fiction or maybe it's science. Maybe it's just a movie or more likely they are potentially true or concretely true facts.

Maybe we are still far away or we are already in the eye of the storm. We could probably still be saved or we are already past the point of no return. When in doubt, among all the hypotheses, we can choose not to look up or to really see how things are. What makes the difference is always and only the use we make of our intelligence. My vote is a 7, a truly enjoyable film in its overall vision and with a truly unique cast. Recommended for an adult audience, the theme is sensitive and some scenes are not suitable for children.

In forma di commedia, un film sulla fine dei tempi e soprattutto sulla fine dell’umanità. Prima ancora, sulla fine dell’intelligenza umana, della capacità di discernimento, della fiducia nella scienza, negli studi, nell’analisi, nelle statistiche certe al 100%. E ancora, sulla fine del buon senso, della logica, della comunicazione e della comunicabilità. Sulla fine di tutto quello che da sempre ci ha contraddistinti dal resto del mondo vivente e ci ha fatto progredire fino ad un punto critico da cui parte la regressione. Tanto che di quel mondo vivente stiamo diventando la parte demente.

TRAMA

Il professore di astronomia americano Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) e la sua allieva Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence) scoprono una cometa che inevitabilmente colpirà la Terra entro un periodo stimato di 6 mesi. I due scienziati tentano di avvisare il governo, i media ed infine gli influencer affinché possano informare tutta la popolazione dell'imminente pericolo. Dopo molto tentativi, il loro monito è finalmente preso in considerazione e viene organizzata una spedizione per la distruzione del meteorite finché si scopre che esso contiene molti metalli preziosi e nell'indecisione generale su come agire, la stella colpisce il pianeta, distruggendolo.

Considerazioni

Sul filo di una tragedia talmente tragica da suonare assurda e ridicola, Don’t look up è una panoramica su come siamo messi, messi male. Sugli sguardi bassi sui piedi, sugli schermi, sulle cose piccole, consapevolmente dimentichi delle cose più grandi che ci sovrastano e su cui ci illudiamo di avere il controllo, mentendo a noi stessi.

Perché ci sono problemi che non si risolvono rimandandoli e non si ridimensionano semplicemente decidendo di non guardarli, di non affrontarli. Pensando di poterli gestire, sarà troppo tardi quando ci renderemo conto che ci stanno già impattando e fagocitando. Forse è fantascienza o forse è scienza. Forse è solo un film o più probabilmente sono fatti potenzialmente veri o concretamente veri.

Forse siamo ancora lontani o siamo già nell’occhio del ciclone. Probabilmente potremmo ancora salvarci o siamo già oltre il punto di non ritorno. Nel dubbio, tra tutte le ipotesi, possiamo scegliere di non guardare in alto o di vedere davvero come stanno le cose. A fare la differenza è sempre e solo l’uso che facciamo della nostra intelligenza. Incrociamo le dita e speriamo bene. mala tempora currunt.

Cast stellare non a caso. Da ammirare a bocca aperta e a testa in su.

Il mio voto è un 7, un film davvero piacevole nella sua visione complessiva e con un cast davvero unico. Consigliato ad un pubblico adulto, la tematica è sensibile e alcune scene non sono adatte ai più piccoli.
