Yesterday, scrolling through the list of films on Netflix, I was intrigued by the movie Blackhat starring Chris Hemsworth, the Thor from the Marvel series. After seeing the trailer, although it did not inspire me much, I decided to trust the actor, who however I always liked in the role of the superhero but I have not seen many other films with Hemsworth and so I pressed the play button.
The plot tells of a series of cyber attacks that seriously endanger world stability and security, hitting nuclear power plants, and the American special services collaborate with the Chinese services to thwart the conspiracy plan of a cyber-criminal. The team decides to involve Nicholas Hathaway, an experienced hacker serving his sentence in a maximum security penitentiary. Thanks to his help, the authorities track the criminals from Chicago to Hong Kong and enter the hacker's mind.
The film has potential, interesting the cyber hacker topic, I like the theme, and I appreciate the development of a sophisticated plot. The flaw of director Michael Mann is that he wants to be a film that is a little too action-packed in the style of American cinema and this ruined an ending that left me perplexed, I would have preferred an ending in line with the sought-after first part of the film and instead everything is resolved with a few gunshots and karate moves.
In the conflictual and anarchic context that surrounds them, Nick and Lien challenge every rule and every convention, remain faithful to themselves and their feelings, to love, to duty, to friendship; and having accomplished their mission (which is their affirmation of identity and will) they advance by the hand, determined, towards a still uncertain and nebulous future, vanishing like ghosts on the screens of traditional control and leaving scorched earth behind them.
The soundtrack is appreciable and contains tracks of the most disparate genres, electronic music that accompanies the many action and tension scenes but even here there is not a song that has particularly impressed me a lot. The film has not received particular positive feedback worldwide and my personal judgment is that if it hadn't been for Chris Hemsworth in the lead role, he probably would have had even less consensus. The receipts at the cinema confirm the little media response and have confirmed a real flop, failing to convince the public despite the interesting plot. My rating is 6.

Ieri scorrendo la lista dei film presente su Netflix, mi ha incuriosito il film Blackhat con protagonista Chris Hemsworth, il Thor della serie Marvel. Dopo aver visto il trailer, seppur non mi abbia ispirato molto, ho deciso di dare fiducia all'attore, che comunque mi è sempre piaciuto nelle vesti del supereroe ma non ho visto molti altri film con Hemsworth e così ho premuto il tasto play.
La trama narra di una serie di attacchi informatici che mettono in serio pericolo la stabilità e la sicurezza mondiale, colpendo le centrali nucleari, e i servizi speciali americani collaborano con i servizi cinesi per sventare il piano cospirativo di un cyber-criminale. La squadra decide di coinvolgere Nicholas Hathaway, un hacker esperto che sta scontando la sua pena in un penitenziario di massima sicurezza. Grazie al suo aiuto le autorità seguono le tracce dei criminali da Chicago a Hong Kong entrando nella mente dell'hacker.
Il film ha del potenziale, interessante l'argomento cyber hacker, mi piace la tematica, ed apprezzo lo sviluppo di una trama ricercata. La pecca del regista Michael Mann è quella di voler essere un film un pò troppo d'azione nello stile del cinema americano e ciò ha rovinato un finale che mi ha lasciato perplesso, avrei preferito un finale in linea con la ricercata prima parte del film ed invece tutto si risolve con qualche colpo di pistola e mossa di karate.
Nel contesto conflittuale e anarchico che li circonda, Nick e Lien sfidano ogni regola e ogni convenzione, rimangono fedeli a sé stessi e ai loro sentimenti, all'amore, al dovere, all'amicizia; e compiuta la loro missione (che è la loro affermazione di identità e volontà) avanzano per mano, determinati, verso un futuro ancora incerto e nebuloso, svanendo come fantasmi sugli schermi del controllo tradizionale e lasciando terra bruciata alle loro spalle.
La colonna sonora è apprezzabile e contiene tracce dei generi più disparati, musica elettronica che accompagna le molte scene d'azione e di tensione ma anche qui non vi è un brano che mi abbia particolarmente impressionato molto. Il film non ha ricevuto particolari riscontri positivi a livello mondiale ed il mio personale giudizio è che se non ci fosse stato Chris Hemsworth nel ruolo di protagonista, probabilmente avrebbe avuto ancora meno consensi. Gli incassi al cinema confermano il poco riscontro mediatico ed hanno confermato un vero flop, non riuscendo a convincere il pubblico nonostante la trama interessante. Il mio voto è 6.
