Baby Doge is sponsoring car number 68 in this weekend's NASCAR Infinity Cup Series Race.
The Dogecoin-inspired cryptocurrency is considered the world's first currency centered on dog charities.
Baby Doge has donated nearly $100,000 to dog charities since its inception in May.
Baby Doge, a charity-oriented cryptocurrency, will be a sponsor of Brandonbilt Motorsports' Credit Karma Money 250 this Saturday.
The cryptocurrency prominence at Nascar continues, with Brandon Brown's 68th Camaro being sponsored by Baby Doge. The cryptocurrency, an offshoot of the Dogecoin meme currency, has been labeled the world's first dog-based charity.
The asset, which called itself “son of DOGE,” donated nearly $100,000 to dog care charities. Created in June of this year, the charity currency won around 500,000 investors after help from the “Dogefather”, Elon Musk
In a statement about his sponsor this weekend, Brown commented on his desire to help promote the cause of animal care.
“As a dog owner and animal lover myself, I am very excited about this partnership and the meaning behind Baby Doge Coin initiatives. The car looks amazing and I can't wait for everyone to see it on the tracks this weekend. ”
At the close of this story, Baby Doge's price was up and valued at $0.0031693, which represents a jump above 888% in the last 24 hours.
Cryptocurrencies at Nascar
This isn't the first time a cryptocurrency has sponsored one of the tournament cars. Recently, Nascar announced that Dogecoin would sponsor a car that would compete in the Xfinity Series. Piloted by Stefan Parsons, the number 99 Doge Chevy Camaro ignited Twitter when it was announced.
Unfortunately, the car broke down early in the race, causing the DOGE's price to plummet, losing about 20% of its value the following week.
This car was not the first DOGE-sponsored car to race at Nascar. Surprisingly, the first time Dogecoin sponsored a driver was in 2014.
The pilot, John Wise, was looking to raise funds for his trip to Talledega and, through a random series of events, had the help of the meme currency subreddit. Supporters of the cryptocurrency managed to raise $55,000 for Wise, who got his passport to the Talledega race that year.
The car was so popular that a miniature version created on a 1-by-24 scale was created, and the artwork was featured in that year's Nascar video game as part of a special DLC package.
