MAN

ATTITUDE AND MOVE FOR CONFESSING LOVE TO GOD (6:1-3).

Most times man think that he can trick God by confessing love for Him. God is a spirit and whoever that worships Him must worship Him in truth and in spirit. In Hosea 6:1-3, the Israel were called to return to God so that God will heal them. Thiers was not a genuine repentance from the heart but because they were afraid to die and needed Gods assistance and assurance for a better tomorrow. God knew the wickedness of their hearts. This was the reason why he made it clear what he needed from them “For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6). The people thought they could win God on their side by their numerous offering and sacrifices. But offerings and sacrifices without holiness and righteousness is nothing before God. Therefore let us forsake our evil ways and follow the ways of the lord.

LESSONS

1. Many Christian today, in their relationship with God play the role of a harlot. God is faithful to them but they are not faithful to God.

2. Many are in the church, not because they love God , but because of material gain. Once they get it, they forsake God.

3. Once people forsake God, God forsakes them too and calamity takes over their life, just as the Israelites went into captivity because they forsook their God
