MANILA, Philippines -- ABS-CBN continues to hold the broadcasting rights to the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), even after the House committee on legislative franchises voted to deny a new franchise for the country's biggest broadcast network.

Ricky Palou of Sports Vision, which organizes the PVL, told ABS-CBN News on Monday that they have yet to receive any update from Sports+Action if it will be unable to cover the volleyball league.

"As such, we have not met with any other party regarding the broadcast rights of the PVL. We will decide after we hear from Sports+Action," Palou explained.

The PVL has called ABS-CBN S+A its home since 2016, when it was still known as the Shakey's V-League. It was rebranded as the PVL the following year.

Last June, Palou made it clear that the league will keep its commitment to ABS-CBN, while the House of Representatives held hearings for the renewal of the network's franchise.

ABS-CBN -- including S+A -- went off the air in May.

When asked if Sports Vision will be satisfied with airing their games via livestream, Palou said: "That will be decided on with the consensus of participating clubs."

The PVL was supposed to start its fourth season in May, but their schedule is now in limbo because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
