They have gathered 50 participants with different age levels and let them watch over 100 hours of scary movies. They chose 50 highest-rated movies and get the study done. In this study, the faster the heartbeat, the scarier the movie. That is how they concluded the data they have gathered. After the screening, the 50 movies were narrowed down to 35. The study was then being successfully done and it really came up with the answer of what is the scariest of them all.

This is a horror-thriller movie in the year 2012 that portrayed a life of a crime writer who became curious to a movie that is about the mysterious death of a family. In order to understand more about the said incident, he then moved to the victim’s house with his family and little by little, the story and the involvement of a supernatural being was discovered. It was awarded the scariest movie because by watching the movie, the participants’ heart rate jumped to 86 beats per minute while their average heart rate should be 65 beats per minute. The second place goes to Insidious which was from year 2010. It is about a couple with a son that went to a coma and this made the child become the medium of an entity which started the disturbing changes and incidents in their lives. The study may not be generalizable since they only have 50 participants which is eventually not as many as the population in the world. But, I know that it helped a lot. People would not have to search online and see by themselves which horror movie is the scariest. The study really gave an idea about the best horror films to those who wants to experience fear by watching horror or thriller movies.
