Doesn't the smell of fresh coffee when you feel the most sluggish during the day instantly relax you? Or don't you feel a strange happiness when you enter your apartment and realize that the smell of orange cake is coming from your apartment? It is obvious that smells are closely related to our emotions.

But what about the smells of nature? Have you ever noticed how the smells of nature affect you? The smell of earth after the rain, the smell of moss mixed with the wind from the sea, the smell of freshly mowed grass. Doesn't it sound very pleasant to your nose and ears?

Think about it; doesn't the scent of the lavender fields you pass by on a long drive through the slightly ajar window take you to a completely different land? It's as if that scent has a magical power... Or when it starts to rain unexpectedly, doesn't that smell coming from the earth invite you to become one with nature? Doesn't the scent of the trees immediately start to calm you down when you feel overwhelmed?

Many studies reveal the healing, feel-good power of nature and show why we love the smells of nature and how they benefit us. Let's start by saying that you are about to read an article that will make you want to spend more time in nature.

Relaxation by lowering blood pressure You may have noticed that you feel much more comfortable, relaxed and calm when you are in touch with nature. This is because, according to many scientific studies, the scents in nature help to lower blood pressure. When the blood pressure in your body starts to drop, the tension you feel starts to decrease and you feel much calmer.

Especially when you are angry, frustrated or irritated, you can relax by immersing yourself in the unique scents of nature. Isn't the sound of the waves meeting the stones on the shore and the salty smell of the sea with the gently blowing wind already more than enough to calm down?

It is certain that our nervous system is damaged in many ways in modern city life. Honking horns, traffic, industrial fumes, noise and air pollution... All of them can damage our nervous system and increase the stress we experience. Research shows that essential oils and aerosols emitted by plants and trees can soothe the nervous system and reduce stress. Whenever you have time, you can escape to nature and breathe in the scent of flowers, trees, leaves and the changing seasons and relieve yourself of stress.

If you don't do it yourself, you may soon see it in your doctor's prescription. There is a practice that is expected to spread around the world but is only accepted by a small group of doctors in Canada, and we all need it. Some doctors are prescribing nature. Yes, you read that right. Thanks to the stress-reducing effects of spending time outdoors and its association with improved mood, doctors are telling their patients to spend time in nature.  Isn't this the most wonderful medicine ever prescribed?

Stress is clearly at the root of many illnesses; migraine attacks, headaches, muscle aches, gastrointestinal problems... The stress-reducing effect of nature's scents can reduce the risk of such health problems. In addition, many studies point out that nature's scents strengthen immune cells that help fight infection.

In other words, nature's scents not only make us feel good and healthy, but also support our bodies to be healthier. It is imperative to heed the prescriptions of Canadian doctors. If you want to take control of your own health by strengthening your immunity, learn to benefit from the smells of rain, soil, forest, trees, flowers, grass and bring yourself to nature at every opportunity.
