One of the first benefits of working in a developed country is the ability to travel.

Earnings in a different currency

One can earn a lot of money and develop a large bank account. If someone travels from India to America, they will earn in dollars, and because the value of their currency is higher, they will earn more, which will benefit in the future.

Cons of working abroad

However, before making any decision, you should consider the following points.

A substantial sum of money is required

The first and most important requirement for moving abroad and working there is a substantial sum of money. If you can't afford to spend a lot of money, you shouldn't consider working and residing in another country. As a result, working abroad becomes a challenge at first. The first downside of traveling overseas is this.

A person's reputation in international commerce does not last long

When a person works overseas, he or she is required to go from one country to another, and this makes it difficult to focus on a single task. Such variation in labor creates a significant barrier and diverts one's attention, influencing work to a greater level.

Feelings of isolation and insecurity

Because one must regularly travel from one location to another, one may feel lonely as one's friend group and social life are disrupted. It is common to miss old friends and family, resulting in severe homesickness. To move on, one must resist all of these feelings. This is one of the most significant drawbacks of traveling overseas.

Various cultures

Because each country has its unique culture, ideas, and values, it is impossible to understand them all at once. As a result, cultural shock, as well as differences in people's behavior patterns from other nations, is a significant disadvantage of working abroad.

Learning a new language in a short period of time

A individual must acquire a variety of languages in a short period of time. Learning languages is a monumental undertaking that, if not accomplished, might result in a communication barrier. A person will be unable to comprehend what others are saying and will be unable to communicate effectively.

Not being able to spend the customary holidays with family and friends:

The person is deprived of all traditional festivities such as Diwali, Lohri, and Christmas, among others. It is necessary to work continuously without taking a break. This can also frustrate a person, lowering the quality of their work.

Conditions of living

It is unlikely that you would be provided with the ideal living conditions, as not every country provides a good working environment for its citizens. It will be heavily dependent on where you choose to reside for work.

People can be impolite or not

You never know what kind of folks you'll meet on your travels. If you're working overseas, you'll have to deal with rude or nice people in a strategic approach. It is necessary to learn the customs and habits of the people in the country to which you are relocating. "When in Rome, do what the Romans do" is an excellent piece of advice for expats.

There is no certainty of landing a good job in another country

It is not always required to be transferred to the same post in the next country. Those considering leaving their current country and job in order to settle abroad should not expect to return to the same position. It's possible that one will be paid less than they are now. As a result, one must be prepared for any risks that may arise.

Concerns about safety

It is possible that one does not feel comfortable while traveling abroad. Friends, family, social life, and other similar considerations should be made ahead of time, and emotional preparation should be made before departing for abroad.

Learning new rules and regulations

Every country has a unique of working regulations and conventions. Adapting to those norms at the blink of an eye is tough, but if the norms are rigorous and a person fails to follow them, he or she may find themselves in deeper trouble, which might turn into a never-ending process.

Jobs at a lower level

In the early phases, one may be able to find a lower-level employment or even menial work if the experience gained in the homeland is insufficient. As a result, in such cases, one must be prepared and strong enough to deal with a difficult situation if a person shows up.

So, the benefits of working and living in a foreign nation, as well as the drawbacks of working abroad, are discussed above. Regardless of how many drawbacks it has, one must look forward with a positive attitude to the benefits and progress in life. Everything in life has advantages and disadvantages; but, ignoring the disadvantages, one must look ahead and select what feels right.

Everyone wishes to travel abroad, work, and eventually settle down. To travel overseas, one must start from the ground up and work diligently. It is not impossible, but it is extremely tough.

That is so true friend. Its actually scary nowadays to work abroad not because of the pandemic but because how employers treat our co-Filipino people. I just hope that our OFWs will be safe while working hard for their families abroad.
