The Mansion House (also known as The Mansion) is the President of the Philippines' official vacation residence. The home sits in Baguio, the country's summer capital, which stands roughly 5,000 feet (1,500 meters) above sea level in the Cordillera Central Range of northern Luzon.
Governor-General William Cameron Forbes insisted that the Mansion House be built in 1908 to serve as the official summer house of American governors-general. The name comes from Governor Forbes' holiday home in New England, during whose administration the first Mansion House was built.
The mountain retreat was created according to the ideas of the City Beautiful Movement by architect William E. Parsons, based on preliminary plans by architect Daniel H. Burnham, the city planner of Baguio. In 1910, the Second Philippine Legislature convened for three weeks at the Mansion House.
