The Dark Side
When you're a child, it's easy to think that the world revolves around you. You are the center of everything, and when something happens to you, it is the worst thing in the history of ever.
So it goes for your parents and siblings, too: they're your whole world. And when one of them dies, all of your world is gone.
I don't know if you've ever had the opportunity to hear this story before, but I'd like to tell you a little bit about a young man who was born into nobility, but who ended up having to overcome a lot of hardship in order to become the ruler of his land. That's how it was for this young prince, whose father died when he was just 12 years old. His whole world fell away from him. The people in his kingdom tried to help him through this loss, but he suffered for years because of it. He often lashed out at those who tried to comfort him. His kingdom mourned with him, but that didn't make it any easier for him to grow up without them.
The people of his kingdom tried to help him through this loss, and they did their best to make sure he was well-cared for, but he still suffered for years because of it. They didn't dislike him, exactly - they just didn't want anything to do with him. They saw him as a burden: a person who had been given everything in life and who never really had to work for anything. And in many ways, they were right about that. As he grew into an adult and tried to do what he thought was best for his country, they still would not get behind him. He had no idea how to give them what they wanted. He couldn't seem to make anyone happy—not himself and certainly not the people of his kingdom. They said he was weak and indecisive; they said he cared more about himself than about protecting them from danger.
As he grew into an adult and started taking on more responsibility in the kingdom, there still wasn't much love or respect from the people. Many years later, after he had been ruling for some time now, he finally discovered that allying himself with evil forces - and sometimes committing evil acts - was the only way to make the people love him. He realized that sometimes you have to do bad things to get what you want. He became obsessed with becoming their hero, at any cost. He doesn't want to be doing these things, but it seems like the only way forward.
Now, we might all agree that this person was wrong—but if you've never been in a position where you had to make tough decisions without knowing how others would react? It's easy to see how someone might be tempted down such a dark path.
If you can feel any sympathy for this character's plight, then perhaps you can understand why our villain might be less villainous than we first thought - in his own eyes, he clearly thinks of himself as the good guy in this case!
In this case, the villain is clearly the good guy! And while this may seem like an extreme example, I think we can all relate in some way or another. When we're trying our hardest to do what we think is right and still aren't getting anywhere, it's easy to blame ourselves or others and feel like life just isn't fair. But sometimes all we need is a fresh perspective on what's going on around us to start finding our way again
The lesson here is that there is always another point of view out there—and if you can see things from other perspectives and empathize with them, you're going to better equipped to navigate your life's journey!
That's all for today! Thank you very much for reading my article! Keep safe always!
