Vitamin D deficiency in Children
Vitamin D is the most important vitamin for the human body, it belongs to the group of fat-soluble steroids that function in the absorption of elements such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphate in the intestine. In the human body, Vitamin D3 and Vitamin D2 are important for the growth and development of bones. It helps to make stronger bones because vitamin D is rich in calcium and for strong bones, calcium plays a vital role. Many types of diseases occurred due to deficiency of vitamin D in children such as rickets. Vitamin D plays a major role in the human body such as helping to promote the bones and teeth healthy, supporting the immune system, regulating the level of insulins and managing the diabetes problems, helping in liver functionality, improving heart diseases, and leading to express the genes in cancer development.
The children need vitamin D, in high amounts for bone development and growth, because vitamins are metabolic compounds needed for the healthy bone, also involved in the absorption of metabolic compounds in the gut and regulate the digestive process. The children have different signs and symptoms of vitamin D deficiency such as children have dark skin color, this dark color is due to melanin pigment accumulation, skin not exposed to sunlight, and some birth defects.
Sun exposure is also useful for children, in a week 2 to 3 times children should expose to the sun for 5 to 15minutes, it will increase the vitamin D amount in the body. Change the dietary habits using the oily fishes, mushrooms, cheese, beef meat, and egg yolks helps to increase the level of vitamin D in the body, now children like the junks food like pizza, and burgers that the main reason behind many children testing positive for the vitamin D deficiency. So vitamin D deficiency is a major disorder in the world.
