Thank You Tatay Digong

Today marks the first of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the first day as a common Filipino of Immediate Past President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Here is a big THANK YOU TATAY DIGONG... I am still confused why there are still people out there that do not find him as a good leader. Let us not talk big about him being a great President or what his big contributions, but let me just mention my own sentiments on this one.

• I do not hear much now that illegal drugs can be bought in our community easily. Before, I know several friends who even sell them. Barangay officials and police protect the main suppliers.

• Government issued documents can be easily obtained. Red tape has been decreased, almost gone.

• Traffic has lessened a lot. Yeah, there is still traffic, but a lot has change.   I have drive almost anywhere in Luzon and I can attest to this.

• There are plenty of roads and bridges and flyover and public transport improved like trains mats and even jeepneys for travel of public to one place to another is an ease and plenty of alternatives.

• Streets are being cleaned off with illegal kiosk and cars parked on sidewalks and streets and even structured obstructing or getting the space that usually area intended for pedestrians.

• Visibility of Police on strategic locations can be felt. These are more of the apparent matters I observed.

• And many to mention... you will get the point.

Other, for sure, will rebut and say, but we do not have large debt to other countries, or our GNP or something like that is better on when this and that certain president is on the seat. I do not believe much on these reports, for they can be easily manipulated or decorated. Furthermore, those big gains by the economy were beneficial only to those big companies or people who do not deal with the benefits of major infrastructures, who do not pay taxes, or don't commute, or even do not need to take a line just to renew or request of government document. Or they are the people who do not go to busy streets in Quiapo, Divisoria, Baclaran, or even to our nearby local market. Or they are not the people who benefit, increase in salary, or free health care, or free education, or any free services. 

The President who showed that even big names and companies can be served justice. Showing the public that all are equal under the eyes of the Philippine justice. Armed Forces and the Police are now more confident in pursuing violations. Confident that no matter happened, they believe that the superiors and the President is on their side given that their actions are on the law side. Before, their tails are stuck down for the matter that rich and powerful cannot be harmed or worst they are the ones who will have fault actions.

They say COVID response is poor in our country. But for me, it is not. It all happened in an instant. All are not aware. But necessary actions were made and even faster than any other countries, even countries better than us. All those who complains are mere critics and believe in themselves they can do better.

I think what made TATAY DIGONG great is his charisma with conviction and strength to hold on to what is best. His actions as a leader are a great example of how to be a government official and others are magnet to do the same. Now I see a lot of Mayors, Governors who do actions for the betterment of their region. Furthermore, these selfless actions automatically were cascaded down to all government officials, our armed forces, down to all the people of our nation.

I am proud that I have witnessed a good leadership in my lifetime which I thought cannot be obtained with the previous Presidents even though that all of their contributions were mentioned through surveys, GDPs and reports and far exceed that of Duterte's term but, I did not really felt them. I hope with the exits of TATAY DIGONG and the legacies he left be that catalyst to have a better standard of government service.
