The government under President Nicolas Maduro has tried to foster Petro adoption, even using it as a means to collect taxes.
According to an announcement, the so-called “National Tax Harmonization Agreement”, the Petro will be used as a valid currency for tax collection.
However, some municipalities (mostly opposition to the national governments) have not accept the agreement, arguing that many places in the country do not have the tech facilities to go through with the implementation.
