Vision

The Bitcoin Cash ecosystem requires a common space where pioneers, innovators and developers can collaborate productively. The Bitcoin Cash Research project aims to fill that need. Our goal is to provide a forum for discussion that promotes fairness and equity, one that rewards respect, soundness, and sharing.

We believe that the responsibility falls on each of us to recognize that the best way to bring peer-to-peer electronic cash to the world is through our collective efforts, using a foundation that conceptually and practically avoids single points of failure. This vision powers Bitcoin Cash Research.

As a semi-public space, we are certain that Bitcoin Cash Research has a unique opportunity to provide a resource where information is easily available while participants are incentivized to comply with a reasonable set of guidelines, designed to keep the discussion as productive as possible.

A truly open forum

We are well aware of other Bitcoin forums’ downfall. They have suffered from single points of failure and on multiple occasions have been captured. Users with differing opinions were silenced and sometimes history was rewritten.

We have a different path in mind, one of diversity and analysis based on the scientific method.

In line with our vision of distributed structures, Bitcoin Cash Research will make its content database publicly available. Identities will have cryptographic login options (such as CashID) in order to avoid compromising the security or privacy of users. Non-cryptographic logins will be kept strictly private.

Both items are currently under investigation, the latter will be added in the short term future to existing accounts. In this way, it will be possible for anyone to restore the entire forum in another domain and past users to continue the conversation without historical revision.

Trust Levels

Bitcoin Cash Research is built upon Discourse technology, a leading open source internet forum and mailing list management application selected by renowned organizations such as Brave, Atom and Ethereum among many others.

The user trust system is a fundamental cornerstone of Discourse architecture. Trust levels provide a means for granting users more privileges over time based on participation, which keeps new users from disrupting the forum and allows more experienced users to help maintain and moderate the community to which they have contributed so much of their time.

Moderation

Discourse also has a unique approach towards community moderation. The idea is to provide tools that let the community defend itself from trolls, bad actors, and spammers. This is done mainly via a powerful flagging system, intended to dissuade bad behavior and to promote civilized discussion.

The specific settings of the flagging system can be fine-tuned to be more or less forgiving, as needed.

Financing

The Bitcoin Cash Research project promotes and observes transparent accounting and reporting and it will be developed and maintained through a mix of voluntary and paid contributions.

Project funds are held by team members in a 2-of-3 multisig Electron Cash wallet:

bitcoincash:ppnkcswttvpdlpcqar9qtlkzuqwann949y2t5fyd5d

This wallet intends to receive donations and cover operational expenses that will all be included in monthly reports.

We will strive to keep costs as low as possible without compromising the user experience or the robustness of the service.

Feedback

Offering a forum to the community that meets our standards represents an act of balancing forces while respecting our principles. The best way we find to do so is by being permanently open for feedback. We welcome users, developers, and miners of the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem to make this their forum.
