Bheng again, i just want to share some information about about my surname " DATU. "
I always mistaken to be not a filipino not just by my surname but because of my physical features n some people thought that i am a muslim too, there's one instance which happens in the hotel i am working at, i was advised/told to deliver the guest request in their guest room so i oblige n deliver it, i knocked in their room n the guest opened the door n told me to go inside to avoid the mosquitoes to get inside their room n then suddenly, the guest asked me, what's my nationality n i replied that i am a filipina n then he asked again, r u sure, because u don't look like a filipina if u asked me, i replied again, no, sir, i am a pure filipina, the guest again, oh, if u say so, please take a looked at my wife, i then turned to looked at my left where his wife's sitting quietly n just listening with the smile on her lips, i was a little shock when i saw her because she looks a little like me, then the guest once again told me, u see n then laugh, i then told them that i am leaving n it was nice talking with them, they then gave me a tip n i said thanks.
Let's get started :)
Datu was derived from the word "Datum" which means Data.
It was the title for Chiefs, Sovereign Princes and Monarchs in the Visayas n Mindanao Regions of the Philippines, together with Lakan, Apo in Central n Northern Luzon, Sultan n Rajah, they r the titles used for native royalty n r still currently used especially in Mindanao n Sulu.
His primary duty was to rule n govern his subject n to promote their well being. In times of peace, he was the chief executive, legislator n judge n in times of conflict, he was the supreme commander of the warriors.
A ruling class, ruling head of a clan or tribe.
A local headman in many parts of central malaysia n the southern philippines.
Akin to the malay word " Dato or Datu " which are royal titles of the malay people n to the fijian title of raju.
He was a chieftain or the so called chairman of a barangay.
That's all for now n can't help but wonder that maybe my great ancestors r either muslim or an arabian or the likes of it,lol
