The Pain -Part 1 (Fiction)

Bert and Susan have 3 children; Nina, Mari and Joe. Unfortunately, they need to give their 2nd child, Mari, under the care of Bert's aunt because they cannot afford to support all the kids needs. Bert was a taxi driver, he was also taking up law and at the same time the breadwinner. While Susan is a full-time housewife with a buy and sell sideline. They were living in a small apartment in Quezon City. It was a tough life for the family but they endured all these for their goal; that one day, all three kids will be reunited and they can live in one house as a family. When Bert graduated from school, he did not take up the bar exam but immediately applied in Department of Customs. Luckily he was hired immediately. After 3 years in that government agency, he was promoted and was able to represent the country to different countries. Their finances improved until they were able to buy some properties; their own house and a car. At that time Mari, 2nd child, just graduated from highschool and so the parents decided to finally get her from his aunt. The aunt was sad but she understand that it's for Mari's good and future. Their goals has been achieved one by one and so the family thought of giving back by sharing. Every Christmas they will go home and share their blessings to some relatives and to some indigent families. It became a tradition for 3 consecutive years. Until one day, Bert accidentally slipped in their bathroom and broke one of his legs. Because of that accident they found out that he has a bone cancer and it was already in stage 4! Yeah, that was fast! For almost a year Bert has been coming in and out of the hospital because of his treatments. The kids needed to stop from school because they need to take care of their dad and to also give support to their mom. They also tried to undergo the natural treatment in Solano Nueva Vizcaya but Bert health condition never improved. And worst, there had been complications that caused his death. The whole family mourned and in so much pain. They fought so much to save their father but like every story, theirs had a painful ending. The bereaved family needed to move on with their lives. The kids went back to school, Nina who took up Mass Communication finally graduated, Mari was was in her 3rd year taking up BS Physical Therapist and the youngest Joe is in 1st year in BS Architecture.
