Disney Moves Toward the Metaverse With Approved US Patent to Create a 'Virtual-World Simulator'

According to a recently uncovered patent, the Walt Disney Company, an American global entertainment and media conglomerate, was granted a "virtual-world simulator" patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). A "three-dimensional (3D) map of the geometry of the real-world venue" is used to create the simulator.

Disney's interest in the metaverse and blockchain technology has lately surfaced, as evidenced by a patent application filed at the end of December for a "virtual-world simulator" idea.

Following Disney CEO Bob Chapek's earnings call in November, when he stated that the company is ready for "our own" metaverse, the virtual-world simulator patent was filed. Chapek also mentioned that Disney was constantly on the cutting edge of technology.
