I can't possibly be the only one filled with a sense of foreboding for the coming year. The last twelve months have done quite a number on us. Some of us are afraid, others grieving. Some of us live in fear when we wake in the morning what we'll find in the evening. A lot of us are doing the best we can. We have to try even harder though. Survival is about the only thing humans are good at.
Don't get me wrong. We're kind, selfless, intelligent; and sometimes filled with so much candor as to be mean. But that is not the only thing. The human's first basic instinct is evil. We want the world to cater to each and every one of us individually and that isn't always a good thing. For to gain something another loses it. And to take something, someone else had to have given it. Some law of not really equivalent exchange. And we have to learn to not be so selfish; if we really want any permanent change.
