Even though we have crossed almost one year of lockdown and have gathered more than one and a half years of experience with COVID, it is sad to see a few doctors and hospitals making use of this situation to increase their earnings. Having a deep conversation on this topic can turn political but I'm writing what is happening in the place I live. I don't know about other places maybe outside India but things like this are happening in a few places.
I understand that there are many frontline workers in the parmaceutical industry who are taking lots of risks to save many people and that is why they deserve better earning compared to others. I heard it from one of the doctors that ever since COVID started the doctors and nurse are doing double shifts and their salary has also doubled and even in some hospitals the doctors and nurses get 4 times their previous salary for rapid support. They definitely deserve this for all the hard work they are putting.
Situations being misused
When I say the employees in the medical industry benefit a lot from this situation, I'm a bit concerned about some hospitals and doctors who make use of this situation and try to grab lots of money from the general public. There have been awareness messages spreding around saying that people shouldn't panic if they have mild symptoms of covid and fill out the beds in the hospitals.
Some doctors (I'm not blaming everyone) who also panic to this situation try to over treat these patients and complicate the symptoms they have. Because of this, deaths also happen or at least it takes affected individuals to critical situations. Let's be honest that this is a pretty new virus and it has been there only for the last 2 years. Doctors are not expected to have the experience to treat it. They completely rely on the symptoms reported by the individuals and just try to control the symptoms.
The awareness should be only among public that they should visit hospitals only if they have an emergency. They shouldn't be giving the opportunity for the doctors and hospitals to do unnecessary treatments and let them exhaust all the money they have. Also if people go and fill the bed for simple cough and cold, the others with critical conditions will not have beds and they are the ones who will suffer.
On the other hand there are a few local doctors here who say that even if we have COVID, home based medication and rest is more sufficient than going to hospitals unless they have chronic illness and the symptoms are very bad. One of the doctors who is very famous in Youtube said that it is enough if we go to hospital only if we have breathing difficulty.
Let's be fair and not blame just hospitals and patients alone
If the patients are willing to spend money and stay in the hospital, what will the hospital authorities do. For admissions all the hospitals mostly have their own medication protocol. They give drips, steroids if there is a need and all sort of medication to keep the symptoms under control. We cannot blame the doctors or hospitals alone. All these medications are not going to be free anyways because they have operational cost to cover.
I would like to say that it is in the hands of patients to be wise and deicide if there is a dire need for them to go to hospitals or if they can manage it by staying at home itself. Some people are not used to natural medication and those are the ones who panic if they have slight simptoms.
They're is also a high possibility where people with mild symptoms go to hospitals and fill the beds there leaving no bed for critical patients. That is also something bestow everywhere.
