Property registrations has to be on Blockchain
There are different types of properties. Some properties are bought and some properties are inherited. Some people have the habit of purchasing a property or Land in a place that is far away from their regular living place. The reason why they do it is because it is very cheap. There are both advantages as well as disadvantages to doing this. If we are able to take care of the land frequently, then it shouldn't be a problem. If we don't visit the land or property, there is a high chance that it may not be in our name.
I'm not sure about other countries but this has been the case in India. Recently one of my friends visited their land located far away and they are visiting this place after a few years. While taking a look, someone else is living in that land and they are saying that they have all the documents that are in their name. This person had already registered several years back but the new guy who looted the land had the registrar on his side by giving a bribe and got all the documents converted to his name.
This has been the case in many places in India which is also very common. They easily get inside the Register office and change the documents accordingly make sure all the documents are already registered in their name and get many land and properties into their possession. Not just this case but there are several other cases having the same problem. I was wondering what could be the best solution and then thought bringing the registration process completely inside a blockchain could be the best solution. All the data will stay inside the blockchain and there is no possibility that anyone can change this data. The parallel nodes should be running from multiple locations and if someone is trying to change the data from the database in one location, all other locations should get notified.
We can make this work easily because science is so much more advanced now and we are able to maintain proper data centers in multiple places. Recently our company was able to move their data center from one place to another but imagine if there are multiple nodes operated from various parts of the world and whatever data that is inside the blockchain is validated, then corruption can be greatly reduced.
Blockchain adoption can take some time
Though it sounds like a great idea, it can take several years to come to reality. Unless and until the government is very keen on understanding the benefits of this technology, it can be very hard to adopt this technology. They still think Bitcoin is a private cryptocurrency and it is against the government and they make all the necessary means to control the use of cryptocurrencies. Blockchain technology might also have the same fate. It can take a long time for people to adopt this technology. I feel this way because there are still several government websites that need updates. They are in very bad condition and it is as if it was built 20 years ago with no updates after that.
In today's world people are able to correct the officers and change the documents easily. Imagine the extent of corruption if one person can change the document of several acres of land. If all these things are digitalized, the possibility for error and forgery can be greatly reduced and on top of it, if blockchain technology is used, it will be a great benefit to everyone. Both the landowners and also for the government to manage them.
