My thoughts on SPL proposal and why it's important for Hive
For those who don't know Splinterlands has created a new DHF proposal on Hive. Being one of the top games on Hive and the best use case for Hive, I think it is good to support their proposals. There are so many good and bad things on Hive and we can keep debating on that continuously. However, because Splinterlands has brought so many new players and members to this ecosystem, it is essential to support their proposal.
One of the strongest reasons why I would like to support this proposal is because Splinterlands and Hive Engine were a great innovation and it brought many businesses into Hive. People can and are able to run their businesses because of Splinterlands and Hive Engine. This is one strong reason why I would like to support this proposal. I have listed my other reasons too in this article.
My experience with Splinterlands
I used to be very active playing this game. During the early days, I enjoyed this game very well. Due to time constraints, I stopped playing this game some time back and I'm just a passive investor right now. But I might get back to playing the game in the future as I'm still holding my assets and staying invested. Even though I stand as a passive investor, I have a huge hope in this game and that's one of the primary reasons why I invested and continued to hold my assets during good and bad times. So far my experience with the game and the level of innovation they are bringing in the game is excellent and I still trust that this team will continue to be successful with new and innovative ideas.
I invested a lot of money on cards and I invested a lot of money to purchase SPS and License when these things were launched. During the previous bull market, SPL had a very good time and it was able to attract so many players from many parts of the world. I still remember the demand that was created for the cards in the game before the CL packs were introduced. CL packs easily got sold because of the huge demand back then.
I remember that my profile value was also excellent back then. I did not want to sell my assets and wanted to hold them for a longer period. Today the value of the assets has gone down. Imagine if I had sold them back then and bought them back now. The old cards have been losing its value when compared to the new edition cards. I don't know if there will be a demand again for the old cards or not. The rental market is also not doing very great right now and for the old cards, we need more use cases to bring demand right now. These are not my complaints but just a sad thing. But I have strong hopes that this situation will reverse and the value will start increasing soon and the demand will get better again too. One of the biggest hopes is the next bull run and the marketing initiatives that can bring more players and investors to the game.
Why should we vote on the SPL proposal?
The game needs support from the community. I don't know if it is good to invest the money in a well-established game or not. I had a few strong reasons to decide and vote for their proposal and I would like to share those reasons and request others to consider voting for this proposal. Below are the points to consider:
SPL has been the Number 1 game on Hive and we don't want it to move to another competitive blockchain.
SPL continues to show some development in the game and they have a strong working game with a lot of players and investors active.
SPL did bring a lot of new members to our Hive community and we were able to retain those members and investors inside our ecosystem.
We are anyways spending a lot of money from the DHF proposal for so many projects that should have been self-sustaining by now. So, it is no harm to support a deserving proposal.
In the proposal, the team has mentioned that the funds acquired from the proposal will not be dumped directly in the market but instead held in the liquidity pools to bring more liquidity.
The team is planning to invest on some marketing initiatives that can bring more players to the game. This will also bring more investors to the game and indirectly to Hive as well because the investors will have to invest in Hive too.
I think the above is some proper reasoning to convince myself to vote on this proposal. Hopefully, others can also consider these points and show your support too.
My Wishlist
I have one simple wish list where the game should be skyrocketing again like what happened during the previous bull market and when the team is introducing new features and new opportunities, they should consider the old investors too in the mind and not nerf the cards that are held by the old investors. It's not something they do intentionally but it happens. The older edition cards don't have any demand right now and are available very cheap. At least there should be some gameplay that values the old edition cards as well and sustains the demand for those cards too.
