Hive is ranked number 5 in Blocktivity because of Splinterlands

Blocktivity is the site that ranks blockchain based on the activity. There are times when the activity is huge on some chains and there are times when the activity goes down on some chains. The price of the token can also be one of the major contributing factors to this. I was surprised to see Hive at number 5 in terms of activity. I saw this shared by @therealwolf on Twitter. When he actually shared it, Hive was on position 6 and now it is almost position 5 in terms of activity.

This is a huge surprise to me because I was thinking that we are not that strong yet in terms of activity. There are so many projects on EOS and WAXP and that's what keeps the chain on top. So, I was wondering what could have been the reason for this high activity on Hive in the last week.

Yeah I guess it is Splinterlands

We all know that we have been having some great updates from Splinterlands in the last week. The FOMO started even before the release of SPS tokens. People wanted to increase their stake as much as possible and they started purchasing a lot from weak hands that were selling. Unfortunately, I was also one of the weak hands that sold a lot of DEC.

I didn't follow the updates from Splinterlands and I did not know what was coming. I saw a decent increase in the price of DEC after a long time and sold it in the market having an idea of doing a short-term trade and buy them back when the price goes down again. But after I sold the DEC I had, the price skyrocketed to the moon. It is now more like I will never be able to purchase DEC back at the price I sold it, at least for another year.

Almost 80 dollars per day from Splinterlands

After SPS was introduced as a daily airdrop for 365 days for our holdings, there was a huge pump in the price of Splinterlands assets. Many people were selling their GF cards for an insane price and also people were ready to purchase a lot of DEC and other splinterlands game assets.

I noticed that I was getting around 80$ worth of SPS per day from splinterlands. I wished that was always the case but the price of SPS has started falling down in consecutive days. I guess the price is still fair and many people are purchasing SPS even at the current price. The price was even over 1$ per SPS. I'm not sure how the SPS staking rewards are going to work out but if it goes well, I guess people will purchase more of it from the market from the weak hands and stake them for a better reward.

New players getting into splinterlands

When I share my thoughts and views about Splinterlands in other social networking channels like Twitter and BitClout and Noise Cash, I keep getting queries from people as to how they can get started with this game. Even though there are guides on the website itself, it is still hard for some people to get started with the game. Maybe they are expecting even an ultimate beginner guide or something or they are lazy to read and understand stuff. I don't know. I know there are lots of articles explaining how someone can get started with the game but things are scattered everywhere. But good that there are some users who were able to understand things from the FAQ section on the website and were able to get started with the game.

A number of new players and many purchases that are being made recently are the ones creating more congestion to Hive nodes in the past few days and have also been the reason for the increase in blockchain activities. I guess we still need more powerful servers from many parts of the world to make things faster than how it is right now. I'm totally for this proposal by @deathwing and I would like to recommend everyone reading this post-vote on the proposal. We need more powerful public hive nodes to make Hive even more powerful.
