Choosing photo editing and video editing as a career option
Recently I have been getting a few offers where people need someone to edit their videos for YouTube. This has become a vital profession these days and people are looking for someone with innovative skills who would shoot the video and give it to the editor and the editors should be creative to make the video attractive. I was surprised to see that people are ready to pay a decent amount of money for this. This has become a great thing similar to how people do editing for movies.
Photo editing
Many people already do this as a part-time job or as a full-time job. These types of jobs are easy to manage and can be worked out remote. There is no need for people to be working from a specific location. The reason is because there are clear deadlines and people meet the deadlines and that itself is evident that they are doing the work. I know a few people who are doing this work from home. The photo studios get such works regularly where they need to enhance some of the images. Some old images are also requested to be repainted.
Today with the help of AI, people can do wonders. Earlier upscaling an image used to be one of the biggest tasks and the photo editors will have to work pixel by pixel to do something like that. Today it is very easy with the help of some available tools. Apart from that some paid version of AI software is also capable of doing such enhancements. This has made photo editing an amazing thing.
Video editing
Video editing is not as easy as photo editing. The reason I say this is because, for photo editing, we know what needs to be done most of the time and what would be the expectation. But in the case of video editing, it is hard to find out how to enhance the videos and make them a good one. It requires a lot of creativity and involves more work. People might have to take references from many other video editing works that have been done. This is an interesting job at the same time it can also be frustrating if we don't get the desired output.
Some people want editing works done for their YouTube channel or their Instagram profile. Such projects generate revenue and that is where this can be opted as a career option.
Career option
I would recommend not having this as a full-time job unless we have enough clients or if we have confidence that we will be able to generate enough clients. This can be a good business for passionate people or part timers who have a flow of income already and would like to try something new or try an additional source of income. Some people start this as a side hassle and when it becomes popular and comfortable they even convert this to a full-time job.
