What sacrifices are necessary?

The time has come where my husband will be losing his job over the vaccine mandate. We have 3 kids and 1 more on the way in a couple of months. As the stay at home mom who keeps the household in order I worry about how we're going to pay our rent and put food on our kids table. Naturally I told my husband as the provider for the family he needs to make the sacrifice and go against his religious beliefs and get the vaccine to ensure the health and well being of our children. Am I selfish to demand such a thing for him? Or is he selfish for not being willing to make the sacrifice for his family? A lot of families I am sure are going through this exact dilemma right now. How do you choose what is worth standing your ground for and what is worth risking it all for? As parents we all have to make sacrifices but when the day is done our children are such blessings that the choices we make and the things we give up are always well worth it. What as a parent have you sacrificed for your kids? And if you had a chance to go back and redo it would you do it again or choose differently? These are the questions a lot of us are asking ourselves right now. It's horrible to be forced into such a situation but unfortunately it is the current reality and will probably be reality for the rest of our lives now that this precedent has been set. Please take a moment and do some self reflection and honestly ask yourself what sacrifices are necessary and will you be happy with those decisions 5 years or 20 years down the road.

My answer to this question is I sacrificed my dream career because I had a child at a young age. I was even homeless and living in my car with my young child for a year. But today I have married an amazing man and have a family that loves and supports me with all my flaws. And this sacrifice was absolutely worth it and I would do it over and over again. Although it is such a minor thing to give up compared to the decisions many others have had to make. There are many people who have had to flee their country and leave their family, friends, and personal belongings behind. There are people who chose to fight for our country at the expense of their mental health and some even ultimately their lives. There are some that have given up every belief they have to ensure the safety and well being of their family.

Please do not taking anything for granted and cherish what you have in life and appreciate yourself for the hard work you have put into your life to make it what it is today. Even if it seems like such a simple small thing such as saving an extra $10 a month to pay off a credit card bill or student loan early it is a huge accomplishment. Things will not always go our way and times may get really rough, but one thing that cannot be taken from you is your self confidence, self worth, and the love of your family and God.
