If you've always imagined what the greatest move towards crypto adoption is, then here comes the answer that should feed your curiosity. As crypto keeps paving ways to climb up the charts as an innovation which is here to change the system set ups, for the long run, it would be a total flaw to have it flow in limited grounds. Self education is great and all, but there's actually nothing compared to close up training. These fields make a huge difference between school trained and home trained students and pupils. That said, the biggest move has been initiated and this is one crazy step into a world of decentralized finance.
Defi, undoubtedly the talk of the year. With a total locked value which exceeds $130 billion, DEFI has braced the world as one self proven investment sector, one with a very rapid growth, it's design which eradicates the impact of third party operations, makes room for non-central, non-tax bearing investments, has made it an hedge to the world's economic crisis…
Due to the sudden interest in Defi, crypto and blockchain at large, some Universities of the world have decided to include Defi as a full semester course in their school curriculum. I've always imagined that if I had learned about crypto from school, I'm sure I'd be better trained, taking into consideration that most of the lectures would be based on practicals, works better than me going through multiple websites in quest for knowledge. Sure, research learning is cool, but there are areas where school training excels. That said, though some of us didn't get to undergo those training as though it was considered shit, the younger generations from here would be better trained following the recent moves…
The University of California at Berkeley recently added a massively open online course, or MOOC, on decentralized finance to its Fall 2021 semester offering.
Dawn Song, a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley and founder of blockchain platform Oasis Network, told Cointelegraph that she will help lead the DeFi course, alongside professors from Stanford and Imperial College London. According to Song, DeFi is becoming a fundamentally new way to build financial infrastructure, which is why it’s important for students everywhere to learn about the topic:“About 300 computer science and finance students have signed up for the course, yet given the enormous interest of DeFi, we are also offering a MOOC version open to everyone globally. In total, over 1400 students have signed up for Berkeley’s DeFi course.”
Song mentioned that UC Berkeley previously offered a shorter, more experimental DeFi course during its Spring 2021 semester. She explained that due to the success and interest of that class, the university is now offering a full semester course covering the most important concepts in DeFi.“The first segment of the course will cover an introduction to smart contacts and blockchain. The second segment is the core, where we will discuss different DeFi services including stablecoins, decentralized exchanges, decentralized lending and more," Song said, adding further: "We will also cover oracles and privacy protocol in DeFi, which have proven to be a big topic lately.”
Song noted that the DeFi course will be entirely remote due to COVID-19 restrictions but that the curriculum will be the same for both UC Berkeley students and participants in the MOOC class. However, she mentioned that Berkeley students will conduct more course work, such as completing open-ended class projects and getting hands-on experience with developing new technologies within the DeFi space. Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, will be issued as certificates to those who complete the class.
As crypto becomes the next big thing, crypto education becomes the ideal business. This is only one out of more Educational sectors adding DeFi, Crypto and blockchain to their curriculum, you can browse through here In case you actually wish to attain more knowledge, there's no losing in being more trained anyways. This particular sector caught my attention and was worthy of being quoted in this blog post, mostly due to its means of issuing certificates to students who complete the course. NFTs? Come one, that's serious business, it shows that these guys mean things and this is big, BIG I say, for Crypto adoption. Coupled with the younger minds that will be trained, the tools that may be deployed by these students, who wouldn't want to own a certificate in the form of an NFT? I know I would. This will really open ways for the ones that hold the reality of the future to build its foundation now.
