Malioboro Street is one of the most famous streets in the city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Malioboro Street itself is the name of one of the three streets in the city of Yogyakarta which stretches from the Yogyakarta Monument to the Yogyakarta Post Office.
Malioboro itself is also often dubbed as the heart of the city of Jogja. In addition, Malioboro is also very famous for its shopping center for souvenirs and handicrafts typical of the city of Yogyakarta.
There are also many tourists from outside the Jogja area and Jogja people who come there every morning just to exercise or go for a walk for breakfast. For tourists from outside the area, they will usually rent a nearby hotel to stay there if they want to enjoy the morning atmosphere in Malioboro.
The reason why Malioboro is always crowded
Maybe Malioboro is just a street, and is called the heart of Jogja, of course that's the reason why this place is never empty. However, there is another reason why Jalan Malioboro or this area is always crowded with people.
Some of the reasons are as follows
1. Zero kilometer yogyakarta is located in the malioboro area
If you have ever visited this city, you must be familiar with the term zero kilometer. Zero kilometer yogya is located in the malioboro area, precisely at the intersection of the general attack on march 1 and the bank indonesia building.
The pulse of the city of Jogja comes from here and many people pass by in this area.
2. Yogyakarta government center is located in Malioboro
In this area there are offices in charge of tourism, markets, the governor's office and there is also the office of the regional people's representative council and not only that, the president of the republic of Indonesia also has a guest house in this area. With the government center there, local residents who want to take care of public services will definitely come there.
3. Close to 2 major stations
Only 2 kilometers from Malioboro there is a large station that stands in Yogyakarta, namely Tugu Station and Lempuyangan Station. The difference is that the Lempuyangan station is an economy class stop and the Tugu station is an executive class train stop. Tourists from outside the area who will visit Jogja by taking the train will definitely get off between the two train stations, that is also what makes this area always crowded.
4. Many historical sights
Near the Malioboro area there is the Jogja monument, Vredeburg fort, the March 1 attack monument, at the zero kilometer point there is the old BNI building. 300 meters to the south there is a square that we can visit and on the opposite side there is the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sultanate Palace and the Kauman Mosque.
5. Many lodgings in the Malioboro area.
No wonder if in Malioboro there are lots of hotels or inns with super affordable prices (hostels) to luxury hotels.
6. Become a trading center
Malioboro is also used as a shopping center, whether it's a culinary place, a shopping place for souvenirs, and street vendors. There is also a very famous market there, namely the Beringharjo market, you can visit the market to buy goods and typical Jogja foods.
7. There are also street musicians
Malioboro street has very wide sidewalks, usually in addition to many people walking, there are also many street musicians who will entertain us with the music they play. Because visitors to Malioboro will definitely gather and see the action.
And that is the reason why the Malioboro street or area is always crowded with visitors every day. If you visit Yogyakarta, try to visit the heart of this Jogja city.
Jogja itself is one of the former capital cities of Indonesia, after now moving to the city of Jakarta.
And in Jogja there are also very many mountain tourist attractions, beaches, and much more.
