There are people who achieve their dreams and have what so many others dream of, and yet they still dream of a little more of something.
Sometimes we wonder where dreams go where dreams go, which begin as a particle of almost nothing, come to life and giants rise to the top to get lost somewhere in the infinite that we will never reach. Yes, it is true, there are times when these crystallize, sometimes they are an engine that drives us to fight for the goal, but other times they only make us lose it.
When a singer dreams of recording his first album and finally succeeds, he begins to dream now of a new one, and another ... and another, the dream is easily addicted by unbridled ambition. "If I won the lottery", others dream "I would buy a house for my parents and give the same to poor children", but reality has shown that one is usually generous with the money that one does not have and when at last the dream he arrives and brings us the money ... it is not enough for all the expenses we have.
An athlete wants to win the national tournament and, when he does, he yearns to conquer the Olympics. If you do not achieve the second wish, you will never be satisfied with the first. Or the struggle of almost everyone to buy a house and, when they finish paying for it, they want to buy another "a little bigger." And not to mention the cars, you always want a newer, more recent one.
What a society of nonconformists! We look at ourselves in the mirror and there is always something we want to change. We look in our pockets and there is constantly something we are missing, even if it is on payday. Life has become a race to achieve the unattainable and we do not realize that our hands are already full of so many blessings.
That's why the psychiatrists "schedules are busy, the psychologists" waiting rooms are full, but we forgot to take a turn in our own lives. We live for an uncertain tomorrow and to hope for what we do not have Imagine the disappointment of a movie star who has studied drama for thirty years and has worked hard for another twenty to become the most recognized movie star and, when he travels to Burundi, he realizes that he walks among hundreds of Africans who do not know him. Or the frustration of the manager of an important firm that has dedicated his life to making the company grow and, with the fluctuating value of the currency of his country, one day his boss thanks him for all his services but simply tells him that he can no longer follow them paying. He fought behind nothing.
If we have a healthy sleep, great, but when it begins to grow we do not analyze that much of what we yearn for is not reasonable. Fame is not absolute, you never conquer the whole world no matter how hard you try; money is never enough and, what is worse, it is as unstable as the currency in Latin America. Power is always relative. All these factors are vulnerable to time, and time, friends, erases everything.
Almost always our dreams revolve, a little a lot, around these values and that is why our lives are waiting for the dream that never made us happy. If we stopped living with ambitious longings, or doing it to satisfy others, and we fed our spirit a little more, our life would be more complete, healthier, more fruitful, perhaps it would all be summed up in the story of that wise king who fascinated to the whole world with its wisdom and power hundreds of years ago. The most exquisite riches, the overflowing luxury, the intellect ... well, whatever one mentions as a desire for self-realization, he had.
When he looked back to see what he had experienced, he could only declare "Everything is vanity ..." "an effort after the wind ". Indeed, striving after the wind can be fighting behind nothingness and thus Solomon described many of the considered pleasures of life; Why? Because he had already lost the most important thing, the true objective of living, his spiritual well-being and all the material values that he had could not give him a genuine well-being.
If we recognized that in life there is a purpose more than just material things, that there is a scale of values much higher than the one that is currently on the rise, that there are more positive things in which to channel our energies, we would all be so happy! There would not be so many failed hopes, so many gestures of bitterness, so many frustrated dreams.
No, I am not against dreaming a little. I also like to see the sky and think that each cloud has a real and not just abstract shape of something. That one is a gigantic lion and the other an angel ... but I do think that when ambition and nonconformity permeate our dreams, something is wrong and we have to stop it. Notice if not, that it is ironic to think that sometimes we dream of having a mansion in a more residential neighborhood, with marble floors and lilies in the garden and while the longing turns into an obsession that does not allow us to be happy because it does not we have, there are hundreds of peasants in the highlands with a straw hut, without a pillow to lie down on.
0, think about this. So many times that we work "full time" "part time", "over time" and all the "times" in the world, to be able to achieve a dream, and when we do, we see that life vanished from our fingers, we discovered another I wish "a little youth and health to enjoy what we have ..."
