What is a holiday?

I wonder if there is an etiquette that needs to be observed during a holiday. It is a holiday here at our place and instead of celebrating the occasion for why this holiday was declared, we are here at the house, doing academics instead.

It is actually an advantage on my part because I could do more preparations for the activities that should have pushed through during this day but I can't help but wonder if I am doing things right.

Personally, I believe that a holiday should be respected or at least be allotted some time during the day. Maybe as a form of respect. Otherwise, what is the sense of it being a holiday. But a greater realization is that the mere fact that everybody stayed home during the day is already a form of respect in itself. So I will stop wondering and use this day well, instead.

There is the preparation for school, for another school and for another school. You could say I have three jobs--job of a mother, a teacher, and a student.

This day is much appreciated as it gives me more time to absorb the policies and the reminders that were given to us.

I have to read well the guidelines sent by my children's teachers/advisers. I also have to go over my school's policy, there I am teaching and the schedules and whatever that the admin is telling us to do or comply with. Moreover, I needed more time for my master's assignments and other requirements.

Therefore, a holiday for me is a day where you could catch up to the things you needed more time on.

I wish you all a pleasant holiday if it is a holiday also at your place.
