For about 2 weeks from now onwards, there comes another big celebration among the worldwide Chinese- Mid autumn.
And we always associate Mid autumn with Lanterns and its food representation - The Moon cake !
So happened I went to a shopping mall near to my house - Novena Square. I saw there is a mooncake roadshow. Here I want to share with fellow friends here.
Nowaday the mooncake itself no longer be the main attraction , but packaging. eg this packaging in the form of a suitcase. One can argue after finish the moon cakes, you can use it as briefcase for storing your own stuff. But I find it not so environmental-friendly. I saw people throwing it away also.
While this merchants packaging is more realistic- multi-tier food container. During this pandemic season, you can use it to pack food home to eat.
Some packaging are in the form of multi-pocket drawer. But to be frank, I used to have it from supplier, but it's not so useable due to the size- one can put in collectible small things only. And the drawer is not so lasting.
Afterall , i find the traditional packaging the more flexible in storing stuff. It looks blunt but in keeping things is more reliable in the metal form.
But the mooncake selling in Singapore is way just too expensive. I would rather spend the money on a good meal in decent restaurant than buying a box of 4 mooncake which cost at least SGD70..
And they do have this Malacca Mooncake which I myself as Malaysian, never heard such type of mooncake brand myself. I KIV this as I think rather special.
For my own consumption, I will go to plain mooncake like this, which is in the shape of piggies, we call it piggy biscuit
