What is the metaverse

A friend asked me what the metaverse is, how do I know this. But there is a trans-generational thing going on that I can observe:

In the previous tens of thousands of years, human society mainly lived in the production and distribution of matter and energy, because the material and energy for survival have always been scarce and insufficient.

Since then, the material and energy to maintain survival can be easily supplied, and the human need for information gradually exceeds the need for energy, becoming the first pain point. Human society will operate more on information, and may even go beyond matter and energy to directly manage the production, distribution, and connection of information.

Everyone produces information, and everyone consumes fresh information. Information is valuable because it is fresh, and devalued because it is old. Information is valuable because it is connected, and it dies because it is no longer transmitted.

After all, under the premise of worry-free survival, energy and matter are just a story, a kind of bioelectricity, and a kind of information.

In what we often call the "information age", information is only a tool to obtain matter and energy, and matter and energy are the end.

Perhaps, there will be a generation that is specifically and directly built for information. Matter and energy are only tools for information, and information is the purpose.
