The most meaningful gift you can give yourself during the day
Wouldn't you like to positively affect the course of all your work by spending only 5-10 minutes a day? If yes, let me introduce you to a new concept that you should add to your vocabulary before the end of 2022: Joy break; that is, 'joy break'. We are all aware that what we need most is to do something good for ourselves, especially in the busy city tempo, in the days when urgent work never ends, traffic does not decrease, and our to-do list is never far from us; however, we may find it difficult to take action.
We may neglect to make time for ourselves due to our busy schedules. Fortunately, this new concept we've been introduced to, the joy break, reminds us with sweet reminders to take a look back at ourselves.
Joy breaks, which do not require a large amount of time or a great deal of energy, only include short 5-10 minute periods of time that you should set aside for yourself for self-care. All you need to do is something you love and that makes you feel good, whether it's brewing coffee or playing music. Try to do nothing else for just 5 minutes, disconnect from your work and focus on yourself and rest your brain, mind and soul.
One of the most important sources underlying burnout syndrome, which can be described as the plague of the modern age, is undoubtedly the constant stress we face. For this reason, instead of doing something against stress in our relationships and in our work, we can suppress it and focus only on what needs to be done. What we need to do to avoid destructive consequences such as burnout is to recognize and manage this stress so that we can transform our whole lives for the better. Joy breaks are the most meaningful gift we can give ourselves, especially when we feel under intense stress. A break from everything!
Work, conversations, meetings, interviews, reports, emails can wait for 5 minutes, right? While it is much more tempting to tick off your to-do list as soon as possible, you need joy breaks to show that you care about yourself; just like everyone else. You can have a much more productive and productive day and protect your mental health by taking a few minutes out of the effort to do something and engaging in something you will enjoy, something that will make you feel good. So, what can I do? Here are a few suggestions for a joy break:
Listen to your favorite song
Dance
Collect flowers
Massage your hands with hand cream
Burn incense
Take a walk outdoors
Mix photo albums
Change the soil of your plants
Do breathing exercises
Light a fragrant candle
Or, if none of that is joyful for you, find your own sources of joy and do anything that makes you feel good, that makes you happy, that lifts your mood. With just a few minutes of your time, you can create much longer lasting happiness. Even if they are short, these conscious self-care breaks, or 'joy breaks', are of great importance in our lives.
In short, these joy breaks, which help you feel much better, are the most important periods of time you should not miss for your own well-being. You can get more out of your joy breaks without feeling guilty, realizing that you need them instead of feeling bad for resting.
As you start to incorporate these simple but effective breaks into your daily routines, you will notice that everything starts to flow much more easily for you!
