Every day the news that is reaching us from the world of medicine in its incessant fight against cancer is more encouraging. Fortunately, today much is known about this disease and how to prevent it. The risk factors and the substances that contribute to its development are known. However, many people think they can safely ignore these warnings because "granny lived to be ninety and never had to take care of herself as we are constantly being warned now".
These people should know that there are so-called "genetic predispositions" in people. If you came into the world with a special predisposition to contract a certain disease, you should take much more care than someone else who does not have these predispositions, but how do you know? Today it is known that practically one third of deaths caused by cancer are directly related to diet. Those people who say "always in my house ate this or more that food and no one got sick with cancer" must bear in mind that "today's chickens are not like those of before, nor are meat or many other products".
Industrial production has required the use of artificial substances and hormones, products that accelerate the artificial growth of animals and then their processing with preservatives and chemicals, many of them highly carcinogenic ... that were not used before. Also, in the past, people had to walk more and do many physical exercises that helped them burn fat and maintain an ideal weight. There were fewer cars and more walking, fewer televisions and more rides, less rush in the kitchen, and fewer "instant meals."
Making positive choices in our diet does not mean starving or stopping eating what we like, but simply acting wisely at all times. Isn't it worth trying to live a few more years in perfect health? Changing your diet is not easy, but if you gradually take positive steps in your life, the results you will experience will be so encouraging that you will never want to go back again.
Always eat a variety of foods.
It is necessary to consume foods of different types daily. The most indicated are fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, animal proteins that do not contain high levels of cholesterol. Increase the amount of fiber in your diet by cutting back on white flour and muffins and increasing the amount of fresh fruits, legumes, raw vegetables, potatoes, grains, and cereals proportionally. A high-fiber diet greatly reduces the risk of colon and rectal cancer.
Maintain a proper weight.
Obesity is not a symbol of health, much less in children. A fat child is a potential danger, perhaps a diabetic from the future or someone who will suffer from the heart and even cancer or metabolic disorders. Limit consumption of fats and white flours, refined sugars, and non-food products because they provide only "hollow calories." Practice outdoor exercise, sports, walks, dances, bike, swim. Do not be afraid to get wet in the rain, go upstairs, if you are not hungry do not eat, no one has died from not eating one day, but from eating when you should not.
Choose skim milk that in addition to being more nutritious, quenches your thirst in the summer. Eat yogurt and cheeses made from low-fat milk.
When eating chicken, remove the skin.
Cut down on red meat and avoid fat when eating it. Try to substitute meat proteins for fresh fish.
Eat daily so-called "cruciferous vegetables" that are very effective against cancer: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbages, turnips, watercress, etc.
Keep fat to a minimum. A daily teaspoon of olive oil or natural vegetable oil is more than enough.
Avoid unnecessary x-rays.
Know and practice the safety rules in your home and workplace (when you buy an industrial product to clean your home read the instructions very well. There are products that are highly toxic and should only be applied in open spaces or with a special protector) .
Avoid the sun, or protect yourself adequately from it, using sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen.
If you drink alcohol, be moderate.
Avoid smoking. Heart disease and respiratory emphysema could be eliminated by 50 percent if you just quit smoking.
Thank you, until the next post.
