Most of the things that we knew about the wild west was mostly created from what we are seeing from movies. Here are some facts from the wild west that is not by much.
In most cowboy movies, we usually see only white men eiding the horses (basically implying that before the cowboys on the wild west were mostly white men). But in fact there are also black americans that are part of it.
After a long day at work cowboys usually goes to what we call a "saloon", where they drink, gamble, and play with women. But actually saloons are usually a place where they can rest. Gambling is usually done in other place. The movies you see only gather this in one place to make it easier to make scenes or just to save money.
Also cowboy movies usually show that the native americans usually uses bows and spears. Well in fact they actually uses guns as well.
And lastly, who wouldnt know about the most famous "gun slinging" in the west. Where you draw your gun from the holster and shoot your enemy. The faster you are the better. In reality, this rarely happen, due to the fact that guns are handled by the town when you entered it.
Just some random fact. Horses are not actually native in america
Note: I forgot some terms thats why some of it is a little wierd but what is in there are some facts that is not known cause of movies.
