The paradox of freedom.
Many people confuse freedom with purpose. And many times these things can be very different from each other.
Hello friends I hope you are very well...
Life can get complicated sometimes…sometimes a struggle is waged within us between what we want, and what we think we should do…
Usually the concept of 'freedom' is quite abstract, we think we are free but every day we experience things that make us doubt. This becomes clear when we come face to face with oppression, then freedom becomes something tangible, something we can fully experience, when we are oppressed, when a government creates laws that take this freedom away from us, when our country is invaded, and even when at work we are bombarded with norms and rules that border on the insane, then freedom becomes in itself a purpose to fight for, and we want it so much that we are willing to do anything to get it back... even if we have to go back to the previous state in which it was not clear how free we were...
But once we have the freedom, those doubts return, for those who cannot find a purpose it becomes very disturbing, eventually desperate and ultimately depressing, sometimes falling into a pit of crushing apathy that only gets deeper…
In these circumstances, people can make bad decisions, sometimes even give up their freedom for a purpose, for something that in their opinion is worth fighting for, and after seeing themselves with less freedom... repeat the cycle...
It's paradoxical, it's as if we couldn't live without freedom, but at the same time, not without purpose... I think this is exactly the case, human beings need both in life.
It is difficult to achieve the balance between the two, since both can become antagonistic, many people struggle to start relationships and carry on unions so that later they become a toxic environment because both feel oppressed, sometimes we accept jobs or join organizations to then feel suffocated and wanting to escape from them...
Perhaps the answer lies in those things in life that the overly rational mind would consider superfluous, Faith in the religion of your choice allows us to fill our lives with a purpose of our own choosing, art allows us to dream and fly freely, the hidden mysteries of the world that fill our lives with emotion when we explore them, perhaps there, on the border of rationality, is where the balance between freedom and purpose that we seek so intensely lies.
Because one thing is certain, the human being tries, with all his might, to believe in something greater than himself... something beyond common logic... perhaps that longing is nothing more than another way of seeking balance for our lives...
