Ransomware and how IT-Security is still not a priority of the industry world

4 71

At times I feel that we are in such a unique environment and so early in this that we are all going to be in good position for many years.

There are the bad times too where Crypto is displayed as a villain by the media. Lately we have seen news accusing Crypto for the rise of ransomware. The digital currency economy changes everything but it also gives a reason to have better quality of employees in the companies that have their networks affected by malware that is ransomware.

Although it is hard for the top industries to block targeted attacks, most of those affected were found to be having weaknesses in security, low funding in its IT, and very poor security when it comes to the direct users of intranets.

Hackers!

For decades microsoft was creating operating systems full of vulnerabilities and exploited too often by hackers.

Code is what it is, and the programming teams can't possibly know all bugs and all vulnerabilities and testing is usually limited. Microsoft today has billions of dollars in research and develops on time the new software, but also patches it up with security upgrades constantly.

There is a need for more allocation of funds from corporations into IT security and network infrastructure to reduce the ransomware attacks cost.

They will find in the end that the cost to prevent will be less than the cost to pay the hackers. The times have changed and instead of blaming cryptocurrencies governments should act to mandate corporation IT security rules and funding allocation.

The wrong side here is on the hackers that exploit vulnerabilities, but the main problem is the funding which was inadequate for decades in any industry that required a private network or intranet, or any connection to the internet.

The free internet days are over for corporations. The reduction of cost that was starting with the IT department is not an available option anymore. The execs don't like it, but the cost to protect your business is now increased. The free productivity all corporations were gaining from the internet is met by a third party. The tech savvy group of hackers that found the doors open and easily infiltrated malware software to any useless security they found.

While everyone blames the hackers they hide the fact that nothing has been done to avoid this.

It is not an excuse to claim that all measures were taken. Clearly they were not. And apparently there were far too many useless employees downloading apps and playing games on facebook in these companies. With these reckless actions a ransomware is not difficult to sneak into a network and infect any connected device.

And it is not a reason to blame cryptocurrencies. You can blame the malware, the hackers or the lack of security of the IT departmens in most of these companies that were affected, but in no way cryptocurrencies are the villain here.

Even if everyone blames crypto what is going to be then? Ban crypto? And ransomware will stop asking for crypto then? No, the boys and girls with the hoods will still ask for crypto, and the corporations will still have to pay in crypto if this is the request.

It makes no sense, you can't stop a cryptocurrency network, the ransomware attacks will go on and increase and the groups behind these attacks will keep asking for crypto. So, banning crypto for this reason is absolutely not a realistic approach.

The solution is what the high execs in the businesses don't like. To increase the cost in security of their networks. Only this way they will be free from ransomware and attacks. The hackers then will be probably hired by them and have a job with good payment instead of having to resort to crime to survive while they already have abilities above the average employee of any of these companies.

That was accurate the problem is not on cryptocurrency but to those people calling themselves hacker that wants to prove themselves by harming other people. It's true that once hacking happened, the error was in company because they don't apply to much attention to security without realizing that we are on 21st century in which hackers are vulnerable. There are companies like Facebook that has high possibility of being hacked but due to their preparations, security measures, firewalls insert and anti-hacker software. It's not easy for hackers to collect data and plant ransomware, unfortunate fpr those company that have no enough fund to strengthen their security against hackers.

If you see the companies that got hacked or infested by ransomware, all of them had just a couple of employees in the IT security team, and apparently also blamed them for what happened. When a corporation works as poorly as to have their networks disrupted like that, maybe this was coming all along. And to mention that crypto is responsible is the worst. I despise incompetent executives and notice them immediately.

It's true that ransomware shouldn't be blamed on Cryptocurrency

Instead measures should be taken to prevent hackers to penetrating those systems

Infact, I think the hackers should be converted to workers. Since they were able to find vulnerabilities in their network to hack, they will be to find subsequent ones that keeps the rest of the hackers out

The IT departments need more employees and better wages. Most of the hackers wouldn't attack anyone but instead use their skills to defend these networks if they were getting paid well. But most of them can't even find a job with the cutting of costs by the top execs to increase their bonuses. You cut down on security this is what you get in return.
