Depression, or maybe it is just sadness...

When we were little kids, we used to think life is so boring, when we watched cartoons all day, played with our toys, played with friends, ate chocolates all the time, we used to think that even though we are enjoying, but life for adults are much better. We used to think that adults have all the freedom, they can go to anywhere they like, buy anything, they are not scolded like us, etc. etc.

But only after when we reach adult age, we understand that life when we were a kid was a heaven. The responsibilities that adults have to face is much much more difficult to handle that it seems like and even though adults have lots of freedom apparently, the freedom is so very limited because of the massive amount of responsibilities we have on our shoulders.

And then when we become over-burdened with so many stuffs to handle in our lives, we start to go into depression and slowly lose interests in things we love. But then, we might wonder than weather is it actually depression or just plain sadness or being just burnt out. There are some signs that might indicate that one is depressed, which includes;

  • Having no external reason for sadness and it is dominant for a long period of time. Then it might be depression for sadness always needs a reason and when the reason is fulfilled, sadness goes away unlike depression.

  • Losing interests which we love passionately; losing sudden interests on hobbies which we like so much might be an indication that we have stopped the process of receiving pleasures from materialistic things and experiences.

  • Sudden mood changes; have you noticed that you are sad, then all of a sudden you are happy out of nowhere, you are scared for no proper reason but after sometimes you are suddenly the bravest person ever. These symptoms might indicate that you are suffering in depression.

But you have to understand that you and your depression are two separate things. No matter how low things look like, you are very strong and stronger than you know and can imagine.

You are strong enough to fight all these depression and sadness if you know yourself and exactly why the depression phases come in your life. Engage yourself in hobbies, do exercise, keeping your mind busy can help a lot in these cases.

Know that you are loved, very much loved, and there are people who wants you very bad, and you mean a lot in their lives, for no matter what happens, there are people who will love you unconditionally and you must know that you absolutely deserve a beautiful and cherished life, for you didn't do anything wrong, for you are a pure soul and a bubble that might get wounded by the cruel material world sometimes, but you have intrinsic healing powers that you experience all the time, all you need is to know when to light your candle!
