The word ‘victory’ naturally vibrates the joy of receiving. Or to put it another way, this word confirms the result of receiving. December 16, 1971, is the glorious day of such achievement in the national life of Bengalis. December 16, 1971, is a memorable day in the history of the Bengali nation. At the end of a long nine-month armed struggle, our country was liberated on this day. The victory marks a new chapter in our national history. This day commemorates the wonder that the liberated Bengalis created all over the world by defeating the barbaric Pakistani forces. On the same day, Lieutenant General Niazi, the chief of the Pak aggressor forces, surrendered to the forces of our fearless freedom fighters and the Indian Allied Forces. In fact, on this day, the existence of an independent and sovereign country called 'Bangladesh' was recognized on the map of the world. This day is therefore a glorious and significant day for us. December 16 is our victory day. This day contains the glory of our freedom. On this day we are established in the history of the world as an independent nation. Therefore, on this day every year, we become self-conscious, firm in belief, belief in our hearts - we must uphold this freedom in exchange for blood at any cost.
Our Parliament building has been decorated with colored lights on the occasion of Victory Day.
Everyone in Bengal, young or oldest are celebrate this day in a grand ceremony. On this day, the flag of independent Bangladesh was hoisted everywhere starting from office courts, educational institutions. On this day, the members of the defense forces of the country hoisted the flag and displayed the parade. School-college students celebrate Victory Day in their respective institutions. On Victory Day, a colorful gathering was organized at Bangabandhu Stadium (National Stadium) with students of different schools and colleges and members of various organizations. Students' march past and monogram displays were held there. The Prime Minister greeted them. Prayers are offered in the prayer hall for the souls of the martyrs and Kangali Vaj and Milad are organized in different places. Literary and cultural organizations promote special events to highlight the significance of this day. Radio and TV broadcast special programs. Special supplements are published in the country's newspapers. The government also took a massive program on the occasion of Victory Day. The national flag is hoisted at the top of government and private buildings. The country's main roads and islands, including the capital, are decorated with national flags. Important buildings are decorated with colorful lights. Police, Ansar, VDP, Scouts, Girl Guides, and BNCC organized various programs at district and police headquarters across the country. Apart from the capital, sports events and boating competitions are organized in many places in the country. Victory Day is also celebrated in Bangladesh missions outside the country. Also, the country's students - people, women - men. Regardless, they laid a wreath at the National Memorial and organized blood donations.
Victory Day is not just a glorious day inaugurated with national dignity. This is a unique day deeply rooted in the heart and soul of Bengalis. Victory Day is the holy spirit of freedom-loving Bengalis. This glorious day in the history of thousands of years of Bengali civilization and culture will live on forever. The sun of Victory Day will rise and set every year. We should not be limited in this. Remember - Vigilance is the price of Liberty '. We must protect our bloodthirsty freedom. We have to be self-sufficient. Let us not forget that we have a lot of debt to the martyred freedom fighters. To repay that debt, the country has to become self-reliant by making progress, this is our firm conviction to stand on a firm foundation with our heads held high.
