When travelers are asked which European cities they have visited, which they would like to travel to soon, or which they dream of, some stand out above all. They are the most classic destinations but also those cities where new trends are born, those that bring together the most tourist attractions or those that give the traveler more facilities.

There is always a time for rankings and counts: the best-selling products, the books that have become fashionable, the most viewed movies, and also, the most visited cities. The main travel council networks, tourist companies, or airlines remind us which are the star destinations. Here we review some of the European cities preferred by Spanish travelers to get away for a few days.

1. Istanbul

It continues to be one of the favorite cities to get away from for a few days, especially on long weekends or holidays like Easter or Christmas. It has art, culture, gastronomy and above all exoticism just a few hours by plane. And all with good communications and prices within the reach of many. Once there, there are essential landmarks, such as Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, or the view of the minarets and Byzantine domes of the Old City. If you add to all this the lively modern neighborhoods of the capital, the account comes out round. Those who have not traveled to Istanbul should write it down as an essential pending subject.

2. Rome

It was the capital of the world, the first superpower of Western Europe, the spiritual center of the Christian world, and today it can boast of bringing together more than 2,500 years of art and architecture. From the Pantheon and Colosseum to Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, there is so much to see in one visit. If you have already been, you will have to return again and again. And if its streets have not been trodden ... what are you waiting for? In addition, Spaniards find it a friendly and close city, where they feel a bit at home. Dial Aeromexico Telefono and save maximum on your travel expenses.

5. Barcelona

It is one of the cities most desired by travelers around the world. It is famous for its shopping, its lively street life, and its intense cultural agenda.  Those who prefer a more classic walk have some insurmountable icons:  the Sagrada Familia, the Gothic quarter, the cathedral, the works of Gaudí, or some great museums such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia. The accommodation offer is immense and for all budgets and the connections from the rest of Spain (and Europe) are magnificent. 6. Prague

It is a  city like a story, one of those that are noted on the list of essential destinations to visit sometime in life. There are good air connections and a  good range of hotels, hostels, and other accommodation proposals There a city awaits us that represents the evolution of architecture,  from the Romanesque to the dazzling Baroque or the historicisms of the 19th century that extend to the best art nouveau or the characteristic cubist buildings…. and all this together with a network of alleys and passageways that lead to  Prague Castle, a complex of churches, towers, and palaces that contains almost a thousand years of history. And to complete the getaway,  nothing better than a good Pilsner, for many one of the best beers in the world.

7. Florence

Another of the essential European cities, especially for aesthetes. According to UNESCO, Florence contains the largest concentration of world-renowned works of art, from Brunelleschi's Duomo to the frescoes in Massacio's Brancassi Chapel. There are the Uffizi Gallery or the Pitti Palace and a long list of works of art. But also, even in a short getaway, it is possible to escape through Tuscany, the most idealized region of Italy. It is impossible to resist the Florentine charms.

8. Berlin

This young, multicultural and free city,  far removed from that city divided and separated by a wall, is one of the favorite destinations for younger travelers.  Full of art galleries, classic museums, urban art, and alternative neighborhoods full of new proposals,  Berlin sets trends in art, music, design, or fashion. Everyone wants to travel to spend a few days soaking up this urban environment that mixes creativity, experimentation, and a spirit that remains rebellious and somewhat revolutionary. In addition, from Spain,  traveling to Berlin is easy and inexpensive.

9. Budapest

Budapest is becoming increasingly fashionable with younger travelers. It combines its charms as a classic destination (the Buda Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion, the Parliament in Pest or the references of art nouveau ...) with the new fashionable neighborhoods, its “ruin bars” and a very lively nightlife. A visit to its classic thermal baths (authentic palaces to enjoy the water) can be the cherry on top of a perfect getaway.

10. Lisbon

Living in the Iberian Peninsula and not escaping from time to time to Lisbon is almost a sin. The Portuguese capital is very close (in distance, culture, and environment), it has excellent communications and maintains a pleasant pace of life. If to that is added the proximity to beaches and places like Cascais or Sintra, the famous Portuguese cuisine and the charm of neighborhoods like Alfama or the Bairro Alto, we have no excuse not to discover Lisbon or not to return to enjoy it.

If to compare London to Paris, Paris is greener than the gloomy city of London, however both city outskirts are magnificently beautiful, especially during mid autumn.
