Hello my loving ReadCasher,
How are you all? I hope you all are doing great.

The weekend is here and I finally got the chance from my busy schedule to write something for this beloved community.

Splinterlands Share Your Battle Challenge is around the corner and this week's feature monster is Cruel Sethropod.

Cruel Sethropod is a very good card that I use frequently and I'm happy to share my views and the battle I used it in effectively.
Read on..

STATS AND USABILITY

Lets explore its stats first.

Cruel Sethropod is a common Water unit from the Chaos legion edition.

As we can see, this monster doesn't have any special abilities despite its level. But it does have good armor and health stats from level 1.
From level 3, this monster turned a good attacker too with its 2 melee attack and 2 speed.

When is the best time (ruleset) and summoner to use Cruel Sethropod?

Among other stats, the best thing about this card is its mana cost. Therefore this card is very beneficial in low mana battles and little league ruleset.

You can effectively use this card in various other ruleset too, like Weak Magic, Up Close & Personal, Lost Magic and many more where armor plays a big role to win.

You can use it with any summoner, but to increase its power, I recommend to use this card with Kelya Frendul.
Moreover, it's the best low mana tank that one can get.

MARKETPLACE STATS FOR CRUEL SETHROPOD

As we can see, current circulation of this card is 158678. The lowest price for one can buy a regular foil Cruel Sethropod is $0.088 and a gold foil is $1.80.
It's burn value is 5 DEC for regular foil and 125 DEC for gold foil.

From the data I collected from Splintercards we can see the price of this card being ups ans downs over the time, but ranged from$0.07-$0.09.

And for the gold foil version of this card ranged from $0.9-$1.2. But recently, the price of gold foil version increased almost 150% from its ranged value recently.

It's a no brainer that the price of this card will increase in coming days when the Chaos Legion packs gets sold out completely.
So, I think it's the best time to add this card in your inventory.

THE BATTLE

Now it's time to share my strategy and lineup for the battle I won using the Cruel Sethropod as the tank.

RULESET

Mana Cap: 20
Ruleset:
Weak Magic: Magic Attacks Hit Armor Before Reducing Health.
Spreading Fury: All Monsters Have The Enrage Ability.
Active Splinter: Fire, Water, Death, Dragon

My Strategy and Team Setup

With a mana cap of 20 and weak magic ruleset, it's a perfect battle to use Cruel Sethropod.

SUMMONER

Generally, in this ruleset most of the players will use Kelya Frendul as the summoner. But I did a little twist in this battle. I used Alric Stormbringer.

This is because Alric Stormbringer costs 1 mana less than Kelya Frendul and this low mana battle every mana counts.
Also I'll use Alric's +1 magic attack advantage to my team.

1st Position

TORRENT FIEND:

Torrent Fiend

TORRENT FIEND:

A zero mana cost monster that is absolutely useful in every low mana battle.

With 2 speed, it'll most likely attack the opponent's tank first.

It'll also provide extra level of protection to my main attacking cards.

2nd Position

Cruel Sethropod

CRUEL SETHROPOD:

Our featured monster in the 2nd position.

With 3 armor and 4 health, it'll serves well the purpose of a good tank and will give enough time to my main attacking cards to destroy opponent's tank.

3rd Position

Venari Wavesmith

VENARI WAVESMITH:
I use this card in almost every battle with Alrim Stormbringer as summoner.

Magic attack monsters are weak to melee and ranged attack as they have little to no armor.

Venari Wavesmith fulfills this weakness by providing 2 armor to every friendly monsters to make them stronger against melee and ranged attack.

4th Position

Ruler Of The Seas

RULER OF THE SEAS:

My main attacking monster of this battle, has 2 magic attack, 3 speed and 5 health.

Combine it with Alric's +1 magic attack advantage and this card becomes the perfect destroyer to opponent's team.

5th Position

Scavo Hireling

SCAVO HIRELING:

Absolutely useful card for weak magic ruleset.

Its repair ability provides enough armor restoration to friendly monsters, to prevent opponent's melee and ranged attack.

6th Position

Furious Chicken

FURIOUS CHICKEN:

The very first zero mana card, that is very useful in low mana battles.

It's my another most used card that I use in almost every battle.
In this battle, I used it to prevent sneak attack from opponent.

So here's my final team, ready to demolish opponent's team.

Mt Winning Team

Lets go to the fight..

1st Round

As expected, my opponent used Kelya Frendul as summoner and also used Creeping Ooze. Therefore the first attack comes from my opponent.
Torrent Fiend takes the first two attacks from Water Elemental and Sea Monster then gets destroyed.
Then my Ruler Of The Seas attacked Sea Monster, which did additional damage due to its blast ability to Furious Chicken.
Next my Cruel Sethropod takes a hit from Halfing Alchemist. Thanks to its armor, the health remains intact.
My Venari Wavesmith attacked next that costs -2 health to Sea Monster.
Scavo Hireling did his job and restored some armor of Cruel Sethropod and this tank missed its first attack.

2nd Round

Just like 1st round, the first two attacks comes from opponent's side. My Cruel Sethropod losts all his armor and now open to attack.
Opponent's Sea Monster gets healed due to its heal ability and restores its full health again.
Ruler Of The Sea hits the Sea Monster and this time Furious Chicken gets destroyed due to additional damage.
Halfing Alchemist attacked next and Cruel Sethropod lost 1 health.
Then opponent's Sea Monster get two back to back attacks from my Cruel Sethropod and Venari Wavesmith that costs him -4 health.

3rd Round

Starting round 3, Cruel Sethropod couldn't survived further due to two back to back attacks from Water Elemental and Sea Monsters.
Venari Wavesmith is in the first place now. Ruler Of The Seas attacked next with a powerful 3 magic damage and Creeping Ooze lost its armor due to blast.
Sea Monster again heals to restores some of his health.
Opponent's Halfing Alchemist did a great job and halved the attack power of my Venari Wavesmith.

4th Round

My Venari Wavesmith gets destroyed with two powerful hits from Water Elemental and Sea Monsters. Now I have only one attacking card and that too without any armor.
In the other hands, my opponent has two powerful attacker and Halfing Alchemist to reduce the attack power of Ruler Of The Seas.
The winning seems impossible from this point.

Anyway, the Ruler Of The Seas attacked Sea Monster and Creeping Oooze gets destroyed. Thanks to that, Ruler Of The Seas restores its actual speed and Halfing Alchemist missed the hit.
If this not happened, winning would be impossible for me.

5th Round

In the round 5, the highest speed monster Water Elemental attacked my Ruler Of The Seas first.
The enrage ability applied to the card and it attacked opponent's Sea Monster to finish it.
In the same time, Halfing Alchemist lost its armor due to blast effect.

6th 7th, 8th and 9th Round

In the round 6, my Ruler Of The Seas did the first attack to Halfing Alchemist and terminates it.

n the round 7, 8 and 9, Ruler Of The Seas contimuasly attacked the Water Elemantal till it gets destroyed and secured the win.

*Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy worked great in this battle. Each and every monster of my team did their job very well.
Venari Wavesmith provides extra armor to all friendly monsters so that they can withstand extra damage.
Scavo Hireling restores armor of the friendly monsters a few rounds.
And the blast ability worked great to eliminates opponent's backline cards.
What I called this is a perfect strategy.

What's your opinion about my strategy? Let me know in the comment.

*What's I like about Cruel Sethropod, and what's not..

Cruel Sethropod is a very good card. It has extra armor and health for a good mana cost. Level 3 when this monster attacks good too.
The only deficiency is abilities, which it doesn't have any. But that can be acceptable.
This is the card, one should add in the collection.

So this is it guys. That's all for today.
