This post is dedicated to all the women who make life on the Read.Cash platform.
We are in the month of October, worldwide dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness, we girls must be more aware of the health of our body.
According to the World Health Organization "There are about 1.38 million new cases and 458,000 deaths from breast cancer each year (IARC Globocan, 2008). Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in the developed and developing countries. In low- and middle-income countries the incidence has been rising up steadily in the last years due to increase in life expectancy, increase urbanization and adoption of western lifestyles".
These are quite considerable figures for the world female population, so it is advisable to check our breasts once a month, we must be detailed when examining ourselves.
Below I explain in a simple way how to perform a breast self-examination:
* Look in the mirror: Get an idea of ββthe natural shape and symmetry of your breasts, observing them in front of the mirror, first with your hands on the sides of the body and then with them on the head. If one of your breasts looks bigger or smaller than usual, or if you notice any lumps, consult your gynecologist (do not panic, 80% of breast lumps are benign). Also alert your doctor if you observe inflammation, redness or sagging of the skin: it could be a rare type of cancer.
* Concentrate on what you feel: Press two fingers on your breast and move them in circles, or up and down, from the armpit to the birth of the breasts and from your clavicles to the upper part of the abdomen. Do it standing up and then lying down. The normal texture of your breasts can range from smooth to irregular, but inform your gynecologist if one of them is rougher than usual or if you feel pain.
* Don't forget the nipples: Familiarize yourself with the color and proportion of your nipples and areolas. Any change in pigmentation, bloody discharge, or scaly pinpoint that doesn't look like the normal bumps (pimples-like) that surround each nipple can be a sign of danger.
As you can see, it is very easy to perform a small breast self-examination, we must love and take care of our temple.
