Twitter Post-mortem update: 130 accounts were attacked!

On Saturday 18, 2020 the social network media Twitter released a post-mortem update about the recent hack incident occurred on Wednesday 15 which confirmed that 130 verified and non verified accounts were hacked.

Wednesday 15 something unthinkable happen, criminals had control of twitter accounts of prominent figures, this high profiles were compromised and hackers used their accounts to spread fake giveaways which defrauded 12.86 BTC worth $130,000 at the time.

The hackers had a breach to attack those accounts finding a exploit on some employees of the company and used they credentials, which give them control to be able to restore passwords on this accounts, successful controlled 45 accounts and attacked on total 130 from figures such Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Kanye West, ChangPeng Zhao, Coinbase, Binance among other companies and high profiles individuals.

The former U.S President didn't escaped the hackers attack on Wednesday 15.

The post-mortem also made clear that the investigation are still on the run and the twitter staff is working with law enforcement, Twitter support will continue updating the users about the issue. The legit owners of the attacked accounts were able to login to their profiles and in future the Twitter security will be enhanced with new features to strengthen and give trust back between the platform and the users.
