It seems the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the department of justice (DoJ) in United States isn't playing and now one more prominent figure (after Arthur Hayes CEO of BitMEX) in the cryptocurrency field fall down and go behind bars.
This time the American regulator and the law enforcement organization (DoJ) filled charges against the magnate of cyber security and biggest crypto enthusiast with illegal ICO promotion and Tax evasion, which can led the "Boss" of McAfee Anti-virus to face good time in Jail vacation.
Accordingly with the charges, John Mcafee used his influence to promote illegal ICO's (initial coin offering) during 2017 and received tons of payments in Bitcoin and Ethereum (more than $23 millions in value combined) and the enthusiast didn't tell his followers that he was being paid to promote those illegal business, most time he used his followers influence to tell that he was investing on them, which wasn't true.
In a separated charge the department of Justice accused the "magnate" of tax evasion and didn't stopped only in accusations the enthusiast was arrested in Spain and waiting for extradition to United States.
The most important part to note in the complain by SEC is that the famous John didn't told his followers that he was being paid to promote those ICO's and received millions of dollars to recommend those "illegal" business to his crowd of supporters. Things aren't smelling good for McAfee and his time in bars could go way too big, and the eccentric man can see the sun thru some holes from the cells.

The American Regulator and the law enforcement agency are conducting some research on the past few years about the crypto ecosystem and after Arthur Hayes CEO of BitMEX and some collaborators got arrested accused of operating an illegal business and break some laws the John McAfee incident is showing that they are on the lookout for more prominent figures on cryptocurrency ecosystem.
