The hashtag #NOTOCYBERBULLYING is widely used on social media today especially on Twitter. Why is this the big issue now? We all know that we are in a digital age where children are exposed to technology because of their tech-savvy nature.

When did cyberbullying get started?

It started because of the rapid of technology. In the 1990's the availability of personal computers became more affordable. The issue of cyberbullying is even more intense in the mid-2020s where smartphones are becoming more and more popular.

What is cyberbullying?

This is any kind of slander, abuse or intimidation using technology. Cyberbullying is a form of bullying that occurs through digital technology. This includes social media networks, text or instant messages, and emails.

An individual or group experiences harassment such as personal assault, vandalism, or something else that is not good or harmful to the person and is associated with crime using a computer or smart phones or any gadget.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the word cyberbullying was first used in 1998. They describe it as an electronic posting by an unknown person to ridicule or destroy a personality.

While the digital world has evolved over time and has grown, it has taken on a whole new meaning. It can also refer to a deliberate and repeated threat or threat to a person using computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices.

Examples of cyberbullying are
